HE'E Quarterly Meeting: Monday October 21, 2013 from 4:00-6:00pm at The Japanese Cultural Center, 2454 South Beretania Street, Honolulu, HI 96826
Please mark you calendars for HE'Es Quarterly Meeting on Monday, October 21, 2013, from 4:00-6:00 pm. We are pleased to have Amy Kunz, Assistant Superintendent & Chief Financial Officer, Office of Fiscal Services of the Hawaii State Department of Education, as a guest speaker. Amy will give an overview of the DOE's budget and process and answer questions that you have regarding the DOE budget.  In addition, we will be running a focus group for uMinca, a social enterprise.  uMinca, Inc. is in the early stages of designing a semi-virtual "gaming" platform that seeks to dramatically increase the likelihood that underserved young people can achieve their goals in school and life. uMinca's "gaming" platform would provide young people with tools to help them track their real-life progress, guide them through simulated life scenarios that align with their interests and strengths to help them set goals for their future, and link them to relevant resources, including peer and community support, so that they can be better informed in making decisions to reach their life goals.  uMinca would like to get the input of parents, teachers, counselors, particularly those who work with middle and high school student, to help inform the design of their product.  Electronic invitations are being sent. Please RSVP to the invitation. We look forward to seeing you!
