HE'E on Strive HI Performance System 1 Pager

Back in June of this year, Stephanie Shipton from HIDOE's Office of Strategic Reform gave the Coalition an update on the Strive HI Performance System (ESEA Flexibility) and received feedback from members on what families and communities wanted to know about these reform efforts. HIDOE asked HE'E along with The United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) to help with a 1 pager about the Strive HI Performance System for parents and families. Using the discussion we had back in June along with other feedback from members, HE'E provided input to HIDOE. A near final draft of the document is listed here

Upcoming HE'E Meetings-Please Save the Dates!

HE'E Planning Meeting: Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 4:00-6:00pm at The Learning Coalition (841 Bishop Street #301, Validated Parking at Ali'i Place, 1099 Alakea Street, map listed here.)

Please note that in September, the Planning Meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00-6:00pm. We encourage teachers to join if they are able to!  Along with regular updates, we will be having an introduction of uMinca, Inc by Christi Tran.  uMinca, Inc., a new social enterprise, is in the early stages of designing a semi-virtual "gaming" platform that seeks to dramatically increase the likelihood that underserved young people can achieve their goals in school and life. uMinca's "gaming" platform would provide young people with tools to help them track their real-life progress, guide them through simulated life scenarios that align with their interests and strengths to help them set goals for their future, and link them to relevant resources, including peer and community support, so that they can be better informed in making decisions to reach their life goals. Members will have a chance to participate in one of uMinca's focus groups at the upcoming HE'E Quarterly Meeting on October 21, 2013
