Aloha HE'E Members and Participants,
Legislative and Policy News
Please see HE'E's legislative update as of March 15, 2013. Please also see Allen Awaya's (from Senator Tokuda's office) most recent legislative update and hearing update.
This week, there will be a Senate Education Committee hearing on HB865 SD1 on 21st Century Schools on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:15pm in Conference Room 414. HE'E's revised testimony is here. We encourage you to come to the hearings to participate in the process!
HE'E member INPEACE has offered amendments to their testimony for SB1093 and SB1095, allowing family child interaction learning programs to be a part of the funded early learning programs (school readiness and future early education program). Please see INPEACE's testimony for SB1093 and SB1095. They see the parent participation component as critical for the well-being of families and children. They have also found that the parent participants in our programs become strong advocates in not only their child's educational life but for the well-bring of the community as a whole. Please review and send comments if you would like HE'E's testimony to include this support.
If you have any comments, please let me know at cheri@heecoalition.org.
Board of Education Student Achievement Committee, Finance and Infrastructure Committee and General Business Meeting will meet on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. K-12 assessments, which has been brought up at HE'E planning meetings, will be one of the items discussed at the Student Achievement Committee. We encourage you to attend the meetings if you are available.
HE'E Satisfaction Survey
We have prepared a satisfaction survey for our members and participants. Please see link to survey here. The purpose of the survey is to get some feedback from members regarding Coalition activities, administration, policy and procedures. It gives you an opportunity to let us know how we are doing. It should take less than ten minutes of your time. Please provide comments - your input is invaluable to us!
