Aloha HE'E Members and Participants,

Legislative News

The 2013 legislative session is moving fast and furiously!

Please see HE'E's legislative update as of February 2, 2013 here. Please also see Allen Awaya's (from Senator Tokuda's office) most recent update and hearing update.   Along with bills that HE'E's policy team has identified as priority, I have included two bills from prospective members who have contacted the Coalition.  Corey Rosenlee from Hawaii Work to the Rules has introduced HB1368, which increases the General Excise Tax and Use Tax for certain, specified services and commodities by one percent. Directs the realizations of twenty percent of such taxes to the Department of Education for the operations of the Department under state law. Margaret Higa of Hawaii Dyslexia Association has introduced HB675, which promotes awareness of the definition and characteristics of dyslexia and other similar learning disorders.
