Recent Events
Board of Education Community Meeting-Leeward District
On April 24, 2012, the Board of Education held a community meeting in cooperation with the Nanakuli-Waianae, Campbell-Kapolei , Pearl City-Waipahu Complexes. There were over 200 people in attendance, including administrators, teachers and parents/families, a tremendous turnout for the community! Chair Horner spoke about the accomplishments of the Board and gave audience members a chance to ask questions and give input. The audience was then broken into smaller groups and were asked to brainstorm ideas on what could be done to help students succeed. More parent involvement/engagement was recurring theme among the groups. It was a impressive effort by all stakeholders in education to come together exchange ideas on how we can help our students succeed!

The following HE'E Coalition supported bills, resolutions, and Governor's messages have passed up to this point in the session. This is the third annual Mom's Congress. She will join outstanding moms who have made a difference from every state, where they meet with leaders in education and advocacy to discuss the best ways to effect positive change in education. Speakers range from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and NEA VP Lily Eskelsen, to celebrity chef and school nutrition advocate Jamie Oliver and Save the Children VP Mark Kennedy Shriver.
