Aloha HE'E Members and Participants:

Mahalo to Kate Stanley, Senior Adviser to Governor Abercrombie and Senator Jill Tokuda, Chair of the Senate Education Committee and all who participated in our legislative discussion last Tuesday. Notes of the meeting are posted on our website at this link. 

Please join us for our large group meeting on Thursday January 26, 2012 from 4-6pm. Girl Scouts Hawaii has generously offered a meeting space at their location at the Ala Moana Hotel at 410 Atkinson Drive, Honolulu, HI 96815. We will have a definite room with a map available as we get closer to the meeting. Free parking is at Ala Moana Center.  

We welcome two new members to HE'E, YMCA Hawaii and Hawaii 3Rs! Diane Tanbangay of the YMCA and Ryan Shigetani of Hawaii 3Rs will be giving presentations about their respective organizations.

We will also be giving time for members to give updates on their current projects. Please contact me if you would like to make any announcements.

We have also invited Stephen Schatz of Department of Education's Office of Strategic Reform to speak about the status of the Race to the Top Grant and are waiting for his response. He is currently in Washington D.C. but will return to the islands next week. We are hopeful that we can add Stephen as a speaker on the 26th. 

Finally, we will be discussing and reviewing an update of HE'E's Strategic Plan. It has been almost a year since our launch and we want to make any appropriate adjustments to our strategic plan.
