We received updated information on the state requirements with respect to social studies and have included in the documents below.  We have also updated our letter to the Board of Education which includes the updated research information. Thank you for those who submitted comments to us regarding Board Policy 4540.

HE'E Policy Summary Sheet summarizing comments received from membership and research generated from Education Commission of States on US High School Graduation Requirements (2007) and Citizenship Requirements (2009). As the US High School Graduation Requirement Report was released in 2007, an updated table (2011) of certain state social studies requirements and corresponding reference is also included here.

We will be sending information to Board of Education later today.  Board will vote on policy on August 16.
