HE'E Meetings
HE'E held three meetings in June, a policy meeting on June 8, Steven Bingler of Concordia on June 14, and a community engagement committee meeting on June 30. The community engagement team is reviewing current Board of Education Policy 2403, Parent/Family Involvement and proposing amendments to help improve the policy and implementation. For latest committee recommendation, please view document here.
The policy team established a vetting procedure for prospective policies, which include internal and external issues. It was also agreed that team leaders would be established for issues of interest to the Coalition, who would be responsible for research and follow up, and draft the staff summary sheet to be presented for Coalition for review.
The planning meeting heard updates from the community engagement team and the policy team and also discussed possible format for town hall meetings. Staff has been attending Hawaii Board of Education Meetings and explored ways to give input to Board that would be valuable.

The Board of Education is asking the community for input on all issues, and is currently seeking input on Board Policy 4540, High School Graduation Requirements and Commencement Policy. HE'E's policy team has asked for comments regarding the new changes. Please feel free to send comments to HE'E staff.
