Dear HE'E Members and Participants,

With the generous support of Kamehameha Schools, HE'E is delighted to continue our information sharing activities by organizing a meeting with Patricia "Pat" Brown, a Cincinnati community organizer from STRIVE partnership, on Friday, July 15, 2011 from 1:00-3:00pm at a location to be announced. Kamehameha Schools has invited Ms. Brown to Hawaii in order to learn more about STRIVE, their approach to building multi-stakeholder community engagement approaches to education, successes, pitfalls, etc.  HE'E members are being invited to participate in a conversation with Ms. Brown.

Here is an excerpt of STRIVE's goals below, and a recent Stanford Review article that discussed STRIVE on the first page. You can also find more at www.strivetogether.org

STRIVE Goals

Education is perhaps the most important engine of economic growth and individual financial gain, and there is little doubt that our success in growing a stronger economy and lifting incomes will depend on getting better results in education, cradle to career. To achieve these results, for every child, every step of the way, from cradle to career Greater Cincinnati leaders at all levels of the education, nonprofit, community, civic, and philanthropic sectors are working together as part of the Strive Partnership to tackle some of our most pressing challenges, and to take advantage of some of our biggest opportunities.

As such, the Strive Partnership serves as a catalyst for working together, across sectors, and along the educational continuum, to drive better results in education.

 Strive has five overrarching goals:

Every child is PREPARED for school

Every child is SUPPORTED inside and outside of school

Every child SUCCEEDS academically

Every child ENROLLS in some form of postsecondary education

Every child GRADUATES and ENTERS A CAREER

We are thrilled to have this opportunity to meet Pat Brown and learn more about STRIVE's work.

Please join us if you are available. If you could RSVP by Friday July 8, it would be greatly appreciated. We will keep you posted on a meeting location.
