Calling all Homeward Bound fosters, volunteers, and pug fans! We are marching in the OKC St. Patrick's Day parade this Saturday. We hope you can join us. If you can, please email us at homewardboundpugs@cox.net with your name, the number and names of pugs, and if you'd like to help us with a foster pug.
We have a few strollers for people to use, but they must be picked up from me in Norman, so email me at homewardboundpugs@cox.net if you need one. We would love for you to decorate them with something Irish! I will have a few props for pugs and human alike such as beads, some hats, etc. See me at the Homeward Bound float if you need something. First come first served.
If anyone can transport a pug to the event, let me know. I have no more room in the van.
Participants are asked to meet at the white staging tent on the corner of Reno and Hudson.by 9 a.m. Be sure to have poop bags on hand to clean up any accidents in your path. This is our responsibility. Participants can walk or push a stroller. I would like folks to wear green. This should be a really fun event. Come join us!
Parade details from the organizers:
"Check-in time will be from 8-10 am in the staging area. Please don't show up right at 10 or close to if you have a big group of vehicles, etc. to assemble. Large groups need to arrive by 9 to have time to be placed in the proper order so we can execute a smooth, fun parade for each of you, the parade fans and the City of Oklahoma City. Parade time is at 11 am. Staging Area - You can check in at the white tent that will be on the corner of Reno & Hudson, as we will be using the streets for staging. This area will not be used as a parking lot for those participants in the parade, but just a staging area, as there is not enough room to park non-parade vehicles. You cannot leave anything in this area, as it will be cleaned out and barricades moved as soon as all participants have left the area. Parade Finish/De-staging Area - The parade will end once you turn on Central Ave. You will be disbanding right in front of the Bricktown Police Department, so please vacate the area ASAP. You may park your cars where parking is allowed, as we are not responsible for you parking in prohibited areas. Line-up will be sent out later, as we are still receiving applications."
For more information, and to let us know you are attending, please visit our Facebook Event page.
Pee Wee and Gail Tucker hope to see you there!

Emmet's Story
Emmet was found in a remote area, sick and emaciated. He was taken to a shelter and the shelter called us. Emmet couldn't even stand and we weren't sure he would make it to the Vet. We picked him up and rushed him there. After a thorough examination it was determined that he has erlichia, a tick born disease, his white blood cell count was off the charts, he is anemic and has no platelets. Emmet wants to live and is fighting to stick around. Emmet is slowly recovering and has even gained a pound this week. He will get more blood work done the end of the week. We have surpassed our $5000 goal for him, and any monies left over will help other pugs who need us!! We are so blessed and thankful. Emmet will have to have both eyes removed when he is strong enough to withstand surgery. He can't even close his eyes they are so bulgy. One did hemmorage but we can't do surgery now. After that he will need a dental because his teeth are so rotten. Please continue your support and prayers. Emmet sends kisses to all!! https://www.gofundme.com/pvs7abrg

With all of the pugs we have taken in lately, many of them sick and injured, we are running out of supplies. For those of you who are interested, we have an Amazon Wish List with needed items. Right now we really need TOTW dog food (salmon flavor), and Grandma Lucy's Treats (any flavor), but there are several other items on the list that you can choose from. Thank you so much for helping us get through this rough patch! Gail Tucker

Temporary Fosters Needed
Gail is going to her son's wedding from March 31 to April 16th and she will need enough temporary fosters for 13-15 pugs. This is great opportunity to help the woman who works so hard to save so many pugs. If you have been considering fostering, this is the perfect time to try it out.
If you have not fostered before, complete the foster application. If you have fostered or adopted from us before, please email Gail at homewardboundpugs@cox.net Thank you for helping Gail be able to enjoy her son's special day.
