or sign up by texting PUGS to 22828
 Dear friends,
We need holiday donations more than ever this year. We know each year gets harder to give, but it also gets harder for us to remain open. We owe more this year than ever. Vets continue to increase prices and we can't increase adoption fees any more. A healthy pug will cost around $200, and most pugs do not come in healthy. We took in sixteen pugs from a breeder release and ten of the adults needed dental work. One needed bladder surgery, and a puppy needed eye surgery. Just this month we had to remove an eye on two pugs and remove a spleen on another, not to mention four came up heartworm positive. We can't keep going without your help and support. Adoption fees just do not cover all of the bills. No donation is too small.
We have added items to our Amazon wish list. Local shoppers can find most of the pet related items at A1 Pet Emporium in OKC or Edmond. The things we need most are Pill Pockets, Nylabones, canned food, and treats, as well as cleaning supplies such as Tide, Clorox wipes, toilet paper, Pinesol, fabric softener, and bleach. Anything on the wish list is appreciated. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks. Homeward Bound would like to thank all of our loyal supporters, volunteers, adopters, and donors for continuing to support our efforts. We love you all and wish you the happiest of holidays.

The December meet and greet is going to focus more on Holiday pictures than a regular meet and greet. This means not many foster pugs will attend unless someone has been approved and is coming to pick up their pug. We thought it would be great if former adopters bring their pug to say hello and have a picture taken with the Gingerbread man in a Gingerbread house setting. This is our only holiday fundraiser and we receive $10 for every picture. My goal is at least fifty pictures taken that day. We sure need the $$ and love to see our former puggies. Let's spread some holiday cheer and raise some money for the pugs. Our vet bill is staggering right now. We have had a year of major surgeries, heartworm positive pugs, and serious illnesses. We can't keep going if we don't have the $$ to help the puggies and pay off bills. Please come out on December 5th to say hello and support Homeward Bound. Each person getting a picture will get one chance to win a wonderful gift basket worth over $100. If you get more than one picture you get more than one chance. Any pet is welcome to get their picture taken that day. We can't wait to see you!

Fosters Needed For The Holidays Friends and supporters, I once again need your help to be able to spend quality time with my son during the holidays. This year more than any other I question whether to keep going. Those of you in rescue know how hard it is to get away for a day or two let alone a week or two but I am tired and I need to visit my son in order to face the new year with hopefully some renewed energy. Please help if you again. I know the holidays are busy for us all but if you are going to be home I am praying that people can take a pug for no more than eight days at a time. Some of the pugs have mobility issues and can't do stairs but none are particularly difficult to watch. Please help if you can so this tired rescue worker can maintain a shred of sanity. The dates I need coverage for are the following: Tuesday November 24-Wednesday December 1 (eight days) and Tuesday December 22- Tuesday December 29 (eight days). The following pugs need fostering during these times: My Rocky, my sweet Katie bug, Buddha, Teddy (has mobility issues but gets where he needs to go), Rosie, Bud (my two old timers), Pepe (needs one unit of insulin twice a day but it is so easy to administer) and he is a funny little guy), Allie (sweet six year old). We also need fosters for the 7 pugs that came in today. I need folks that have previously adopted or are approved to foster and can pick up their guest in Norman if possible. If you have not fostered before, complete the foster application. Please help get me out of town!
Thank you so much!! Gail Tucker |

Molly has settled right in tonight! Luigi is absolutely thrilled to have a new little sister to love. We're grateful to be part of the Homeward Bound family!
Thank you to Anita, Amy, and Tanna for working with us to get us all checked out and approved to adopt this sweet girl. It's obvious how very much you all care for the well-being of these puggies! And big hugs to her foster mom Carol who has been loving on Molly for months, we promise to send you updates on how she is doing in her furever home.

In Memorium
Darla Jane Shelden and her pug Ivy started attending Puggerfest in 2006! RIP sweet Ivy.
Ivy Jane Shelden
February 6, 2002 - September 17, 2015
The City Sentinel October 2015 print edition and online.
My beloved Ivy Jane left this earth on September 17, 2015. Although she has had health problems for many years, she was the happiest, sweetest and most loving furry person I've every known.
In 2002, after a six month search for the then elusive back female pug, Ivy was discovered in Dowagiac, Michigan. Just 10 weeks old, Ivy rendezvoused with me in St. Louis to begin our life adventure.
A raven haired beauty, named after my maternal grandmother, Ivy Jane didn't have the curliest tail, but she had much more important traits - tolerance, loyalty, intelligence, humor and of course abundant love. Ivy adored everybody and never met a stranger. She was fearless and the epitome of the term 'peace pug.' Never aggressive, Ivy would greet people with her tribal circle dance while carrying in her mouth little "Hedgy" or "Baby" her two favorite stuffed toys.
Ivy absolutely loved the water. As a puppy she took showers with me and never hesitated to go outside in the rain or snow. A true waterpug, she was a masterful swimmer and enjoyed floating and hanging out with her "i-friend" Ivan at Club Hutchcroft, her vacation home.
Ivy and I started going to Puggerfest in 2006. She was known as the 'political pug' supporting Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama campaigns and other Democratic candidates. Diagnosed in 2010 with degenerative myelopathy, a neurological disease, Ivy had difficulty walking, which became more of a waddle, but she did amazingly well considering I was told she might have only six months to live. She compensated by never letting even her DM keep her from being the happiest little girl in town. In August of this year Ivy developed the sniffles and her symptoms quickly became more severe and overcame her. The cause is now believed to be a nasal adenocarcinoma. I am grateful to my friend Dr. Todd Mauldin and the loving staff at Britton Road Veterinary Clinic where she has gone since she was 6 month old. Ivy Jane is memorialized on YouTube and Facebook and is adored by many who have never actually met her. We were both lucky to have found each other. She has given me more happiness than I deserve. Ivy would have been 14 in February. When someone like Ivy leaves your world there is a big hole that cannot be refilled. I miss her terribly and I will always love my little Ivy Jane.
