Disposable Pugs

It is that time of year again; a time to celebrate, visit family and friends, buy gifts, and dump your pug at the local shelter or rescue. Yep, you read that right. Some people think that the holidays are the perfect time to get rid of their loyal family pet. Unbelievable I know, but it happens every year. This year they are coming in droves, and the holidays haven't even started yet. In fact, last week Gail got calls on five pugs in one day! Due to the number of pugs coming in, and the fact that many need extensive medical care, we are once again in the red. Because funds are so low, we are considering stopping taking in pugs until we raise more money. Puggerfest helped but due to the increase in intakes we are in debt several thousand dollars. Please consider making a donation today so that we don't have to turn away pugs in need. You can go to  http://www.homewardboundpugs.com and click on the Donate Online button, or go directly through PayPal and donate to homewardboundpugs@cox.net. Please choose the "Family and Friends" option so we won't be charged a fee. Thank you so much.

If you would like to become a foster parent for our pugs please fill out the foster application.

Please Help Kris and Amelia (WARNING: Graphic photos)

Meet Kris: He recently came in as a stray when a nice person found him and contacted us. We aren't sure what caused Kris' injuries but his paw looks to have been caught in something. It is horribly infected (gangrene) and his leg will have to be amputated.

Meet Amelia: We got a call from a vet who had a client bring in her female pug with a badly prolapsed uterus. She didn't have the funds to fix her so she signed her over to us. This procedure will cost at least 1500.00 to fix, and we need your help to pay the bill.

Please open your hearts and purse strings to help these two precious pugs and the many others that we will be taking in during the holiday season. We are accepting donations through PayPal, or you can send a check made out to Homeward Bound Pugs, 1702 Vanessa Dr., Norman, OK 73071.

Be sure to write "Kris and Amelia" in the memo.

Would you like to buy some presents for Homeward Bound Pugs, or Gail for that matter? We have a wish list on Amazon with items we need. One of the big items is food. You know how much pugs like to eat, and now that we have over 70 pugs in foster homes, we are constantly in need of good quality food for them. Gail has so many pugs in her home that they can go through two large bags of food a week. Please consider purchasing an item from our wish list. Some are very  inexpensive, but still very much needed. Thank you.

Happy Tails: Baxter

Everyone loves a happy ending, and here is a very touching one!

I know it's been a long time but we were just out walking our pug (who we renamed Baxter when we got him on 2011) with our son and daughter. Our neighbors were asking about him and remarking that he was such a happy dog. We both felt immediately thankful and happy for the work you guys do. He's been the best addition to our family. Nowadays you will find him snuggled up to our son or just simply walking around with him and trying to nap near our daughter. They are all best friends and we are thankful for the opportunity to have found him three years ago through your organization. We have since moved to Tennessee and Baxter is enjoying a little less heat and way more outside time!

All the best,

Mandy

Sunshine Update:

We thank those of you that have sent donations, prayers and positive thoughts for our Sunshine. She is eating well now and is becoming more herself again. Bright and cheery like her name suggests. She is such a trooper. I am a firm believer that all the prayers have helped her make it through and so very thankful for everyone that sent them and allowed Sunshine in their hearts. Also a huge thank you to all those that donated to help keep this sweet soul alive.
