Come and meet several of our wonderful pugs this Saturday, July 12 at A1 Pet Emporium's new location in Edmond, OK. We will have lots of sweet puggies for you to meet and play with. They do love to show off for a crowd. If there is a specific pug you would like to meet, email me at homewardboundpugs@cox.net and we will try to have him/her there. Approved applicants can take their new furever friend home that day.

Fosters and Help Needed
For Several New Pugs Here are three new pugs that are coming into rescue that we need fosters for! Please be willing to foster and help out. If you can't foster, please consider donating. No amount is to small. We have taken in 15 pugs in the last week! It is raining pugs, and funds are depleted. If you can foster, please fill out the foster application If you have adopted or fostered previously, we would love to have you help out now. If we can get commitments, we can continue to save these and other sweet pugs. If not, things will have to slow down! Please consider making a donation online via PayPal to homewardboundpugs@cox.net and mark friends or family to avoid fees on both ends. No amount is to small. If everyone on our mailing list and all of our Facebook friends donated just $5, we would be able to take care of our current pugs and some of the pugs coming in in the future. Also, there is an Amazon wish list for all the furbabies in need. Please consider making a donation of a much need supply for these and our other puggies. Please, lets all give with all our hearts and foster, donate, or purchase a wish list item. Homeward Bound Pug Rescue & Adoption of Oklahoma never says NO to any pug in need! Let's help Gail Tucker out so she can continue helping pugs find new forever homes.

PUGGERFEST 2014??? When is Puggerfest this year? I have been asked this question many times and the real question is are we having Puggerfest this year? I have struggled with the answer and it depends on you, my wonderful supporters and volunteers. For the last several years we have put Puggerfest on with a handful of wonderful volunteers doing tons of pre-Puggerfest work and working well into the night as Puggerfest draws closer. This year we don't even have that handful, and without people committing now to being part of a committee or chairing a committee, it just won't happen. That being said, we have a date and a hotel secured. Don't panic yet, we generally have our first meeting in July. We need to know for sure who can help and what you are willing to do. I am stepping way back this year and I am sure there will be positive changes and new ideas. Please let me know asap if you are willing to do pre-Puggerfest work. Our theme will be Western. What could be more fun than a roundup of Pugs hanging out in the OK Corral at the Pugerosa? With this in mind, my good friend and foster mom Bethanie Bird has put together the first draft of what we need to get things going. Once we know people are on board to help, more information will follow. Please contact me at homewardboundpugs@cox.net if you wish to chair or volunteer for a committee. Be sure to let me know what committee you wish to serve on. We welcome anyone who has worked on Puggerfest in the past, and those who are new. If you want to help but not sure what area, we can assign you to one. Deadline to respond is Friday, July 11. Remember this is pre-Puggerfest planning and duties. We will request volunteers for duties at the park at a later date. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

11th Annual Puggerfest Wild West OK Pug Showdown It is that time again to get excited about Puggerfest 2014!!!! However, we can't be successful without a committee and volunteers, and that time is now! When: Saturday, October 4th from 10am-4 p.m. Where: Stars and Stripes Park, 3701 S. Lake Hefner Dr. Oklahoma City, OK We need people who are willing, ready, and able to be on committees. COMMITTEES: Project Development: This is the committee that will work on getting needed supplies for Puggerfest. Some of the supplies would be decorations and layout for Puggerfest, Puggerfest T-shirts for fundraising, and volunteers. Sponsorship and Donations: In order to have a successful event we need sponsors that are willing to donate money to help sponsor events and purchase advertisements to allow for our program to be printed. They will all get advertisement in the program. Secondly, in order to have a successful auction we need donations for the auction from small to big- both pug and non-pug related.
Silent Auction Coordinator: This team will be responsible for being in charge of setting up the auction in order to be successful. We will be making changes this year to ensure that the auction goes off without hitches and that we are able to raise more money for the Pugs. Communications: This group of individuals will work on the program, flyers, advertisement, social media and getting the word out about the Eleventh annual Puggerfest. Volunteer Recruitment: This is a huge area and somebody that is highly organized needs to be this chair and will communicate with all committees so that the needs are covered from set up to tear down and all the million details and things that need to be done in between. Event Planning: This team will be responsible for food (we are hoping for food trucks this year), contests, and all the fun and games that they believe will help benefit Puggerfest. We will also need help preparing score sheets for judges. New ideas are welcome. Event planning and Project Development will work closely together. Adoption Area: This person will be responsible for making sure that all the needs of the Pug OK Corral for adoption is running effectively. This includes that all adoptable pugs have neckwear, name tags, plenty of water, and the area is kept sanitary. For each committee we need a committee chair. This individual will be the captain of the team. They will need to attend meetings, communicate with all other committee members and with Mama Pug, Gail Tucker, the founder of Homeward Bound Pug Rescue. If interested in being a chair or committee member please email Gail at homewardboundpugs@cox.net and let her know what area you are most interested in chairing or serving on. Please respond no later than the 11th of July so we can proceed in planning a rootin' tootin' Puggerfest. We truly appreciate any help you can give. Puggerfest is a huge undertaking, and the more volunteers we have, the smoother things will go. Gail Tucker - homewardboundpugs@cox.net |
