Seasons Greetings!
The holidays are upon us. It is a time to give thanks for all we have and to share with others the spirit of giving. Homeward Bound is so very thankful to all of our volunteers and supporters that enable us to keep going when more and more pugs continue to come into rescue. You are all awesome and we appreciate you so very much. There have been many times this year I have thought of closing down due to lack of funds and the never ending steady stream of pugs needing rescue, but it seems that during our darkest days we suddenly see some light at the end of the tunnel. A donation will come in or someone will send a bag of food or some toys for the homeless pugs and we continue on.
This time of year is particularly difficult for us. People decide to give up their pugs because they don't want to pay boarding fees when they go out of town, they would rather spend money on an Xbox for their child rather than on dog food or vet care, or just to make room for Aunt Martha who is coming to visit for the holidays. Our rescue is bursting to the seams with close to fifty pugs and we are scrambling to find foster homes and funding to vet the ones continuing to come in.
It has been a hard year with many pugs needing surgeries or expensive testing, but somehow we have managed to keep going. We have taken in over 150 pugs and placed most in forever homes. Unfortunately, the seniors and special needs pugs are the forgotten ones. Seniors are the best and we hope that this year will bring more awareness to them and that people will realize how much they deserve a home to call their own. I look at their sweet faces and into their eyes that hold so much love and promise them I will continue to try to find that special home for them. Please consider opening your heart and home to one of our sweet seniors.
There has also been much joy this year as we see the transformation from a very sickly pug to one that is now healthy and happy and ready to meet their new family. There is no greater feeling then getting a note telling us how much a pug is loved in their new home. Updates and pictures just make our day!
We hope that you will all consider a holiday donation to the pug orphans of Homeward Bound. No amount is too small and will be put towards our staggering vet bills or go towards a pug that is waiting for surgery. We have three needing knee surgeries that have to wait until we pay some vet bills down. If you would rather send a holiday gift to the pugs we have an Amazon wish list that has many items to choose from. It is listed on Amazon under Homeward Bound Holiday wish list. We have already received some items from it and are so thankful for them.
In closing, I just want to say that Pug people are the best!! We appreciate each and every one of you. Without our supporters, volunteers, fosters, and transporters we simply could not keep going. Thank you for sticking with us and being there when we need you most. We are grateful for the love that continues to surround us.
I wish all of you the happiest of Holidays and pray that good things will come to each of you in the coming year.

With the influx of pugs this time of year, we are running out of necessities for our newly arriving pugs. Homeward Bound has an Amazon Wish List with supplies that are needed. Most of the products are under $20 and all donations will be shipped directly to Gail. Having a toy, bed, or crate of their own helps the pugs settle in and be more comfortable in their foster home. Thank you for your support.

These Sweet Pugs Need Your Support:
Miles My name is Miles and I was abandoned by my family at a scary shelter. I don't know why my family left me there. Luckily a kind lady got me out and now I am looking for another family who will love me. I am eight years old and such a good boy. My foster mom found out I had diabetes and I got very sick several weeks ago. I had to spend days in the hospital and get my blood sugar regulated. I know it cost a lot of money to get me well.
This week my foster mom noticed that I was losing weight and not feeling good. She had to take me back to the hospital. I have lots of problems and it will cost several hundred dollars to fix me up and make me feel good again. Won't you please help me get better?

Nala Nala was in a local shelter and her family never came for her. She was a chunky little girl, but she is doing well on her new diet. Nala is very loving, enjoys playing with toys, is extremely "talkative", and has great house manners. Nala does have bad knees, so we are working to save money for her surgery so she can run and play with all the other pugs in her foster home. Once she has recovered from surgery she will be ready to find her forever home. Nala is about 5 years young and is looking forward to finding her new family soon. We are accepting donations for these and our other sweet pugs through our PayPal account: homewardboundpugs@cox.net or by mail: Homeward Bound Pugs 1702 Vanessa Dr. Norman, OK 73071

Fosters desperately needed!
We call this time of year the "Holiday Dump" because as people begin to go on holiday and buy expensive Christmas presents, they just can't seem to care for their furry companion. What do they do? They dump them off at the pound or call us to take their pug! Sadly, this happens every year and it is very stressful on the pugs and on us. We just don't have the space to take them all without additional fosters, and we hate knowing a pug might be put down because he has nowhere to go. Fosters are desperately needed. PLEASE consider fostering a sweet pug. Their life depends on it! If you are interested, please fill out our foster application.
Temporary fosters needed:
Our beloved director Gail selflessly takes care of dozens of pugs year round, so she likes to take some time off during the holidays to rest and visit her family. If she burns out, that is the end of Homeward Bound and the end of pugs being saved from local shelters. She needs fosters for her dogs from December 17th to 27th, or you can pick up your new foster pug at A1 Pet Emporium during our meet and greet on December 15th. Temporary fostering is also an easy way to see if fostering is something you would like to do on a more long term basis.
If you can foster, please fill out the short foster application. Thank you so much for helping us during the busiest time of year.
