 Easter Egg

As colorful as the coming spring, Easter Egg is the perfect present for any basket! Layers of pretty, hand-painted pastel patterns and dancing daisies decorate its glossy surface. Open it, and you'll find a clever treat - a warmer dish nestled right into the egg.

You can purchase it

here for 10% off from Homeward Bound supporter Kathy Highfill, or browse the site for more wonderful warmers and scents (all are 10% off in the month of February.)

A POEM TO MY FOSTER DOG
By Diane Morgan

I am the bridge,
Between what was and what can be.
I am the pathway to a new life.

I am made of mush,
Because my heart melted when I saw you,
Matted and sore, limping, depressed
Lonely, unwanted, afraid to love.

For one little time you are mine.

I will feed you with my own hand.
I will love you with my
whole heart.

I will make you whole.

I am made of steel.
Because when the time comes,
When you are well, and sleek,
when your eyes shine,
And your tail wags with joy
Then comes the hard part.

I will let you go-not without a tear,
But without a regret.
For you are safe forever--
A new dog needs me now.

If this poem touched you, please consider fostering a pug. You will not regret it. If you can help, please fill out a foster form or email us for more  information. The pugs and volunteers thank you.

Have a Heart

2013 Heartworm Forecast
In Oklahoma, without heartworm prevention, the
chance of a dog getting heartworms is 1 in 6. Some people think that their dog can't get
heartworms because he is an "inside dog." The fact is, no dog is an "inside dog!" All dogs go outdoors to play, walk and potty. All it takes is one bite from an infected mosquito and your dog is destined for a painful, potentially deadly case of heartworms that is expensive and dangerous to treat.

Contrary to popular belief, your dog can contract heartworms any time of year due to the mild winters we have had. As soon as puddles of water start to form and stagnate, out hatch the mosquito larvae!
Heartworm preventative comes in several brands of chewable tablets given once a month. Six months worth of the basic heartworm chew is only $35-$40. Well worth it to keep your dog healthy.

We know you love your pug and want him to live a long, healthy life, so have your pug tested and put him on a preventative before mosquitoes really start to become active.

Pugs of the Month

Berta and Bella

Berta and Bella came in together but could be adopted separately and will be fine. In fact that is probably a good idea so that they could both bloom. Bella (the fawn) is playful and loves attention. She can be a little shy but quickly warms up and then you are the center of her world. She is AKC registered and just turned 4. Berta (black) is a real sweetheart who loves toys and attention too. She is a cuddler and you can even hold her like a baby. She is the more outgoing of the two and loves everything and everybody (well maybe only likes the cat). They are both good with kids, cats (under supervision - there is that gleam in Bert-berts eye) and other dogs. Both of these adorable pugs will make a wonderful and fun addition to a loving family. If you are interested in adopting Berta or Bella, please fill out an application

Happy Tails

Betty Lou

This is Betty Lou, the pug who rescued me. I grew up with pugs. However, as an adult, I had never had one of my own. I met Betty Lou at a benefit for Homeward Bound. I had no intention of getting a dog, but she chose me! She used her puggy voodoo to make me adopt her. She came to me skinny and sick with heartworms. Now, she is healthy and happy. She is spoiled rotten and is snoring away in my lap as I type this. She brings so much joy to my life; I can't imagine why anyone would have abandoned her. When I first got her, one of my nephews said that she was sad because she didn't have a daddy. Well, I recently got married, and now her life is complete. She loves her new daddy so much that she sleeps on his pillow every night. We are a blissfully happy family!

Sasha

This is Sasha, I adopted her from you all a year and a half ago.  She's been such a blessing. Everyone that meets her falls in love with her and she loves everyone.  You'd never know she's 11 by her playfulness!!
