Greetings Friends,
Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday and that the new year brings you joy and good health.
We want to do a little bragging and let you know that Gail won two, yes two awards recently!
Our own Gail Tucker was honored in December with two humanitarian awards for over a decade of dedication and devotion to rescuing and finding forever homes for hundreds of pugs. In early October, HBPR volunteer Niki Furrh nominated Gail for Pat Becker's "SPEAK! Award" through Pat's radio program Dog Talk on KTOK. Pat's SPEAK award is one which she gives "to outstanding people who have spent years in the effort of helping animals and have a mission and vision for setting an example for others." On 12-2-12 Pat Becker presented Gail Tucker with her "SPEAK!" Humanitarian Award while on the air at KTOK. A handsome plaque was presented to Gail along with a monetary donation for her to use in whatever way she felt best in continuing her work with Homeward Bound. Pat was well aware of the value of Gail Tucker's donation of her time, energy and money in the drive to save little pug's lives and find them great forever homes. Pat indicated that Gail has been a model of perseverance for rescues across the state and we should all be grateful to her for setting an example of caring and giving to dogs who have been abused and abandoned.
Nancy Haddock, owner of Twister Agility, became aware of Gail's nomination and agreed that this was indeed the year to honor Gail for all her hard work. She presented Gail with her FAITH AWARD which is given in memory of her beloved dog, Faith, who passed away last year. Nancy elected to honor Gail during Pat Becker's television program Dog Talk on KSBI. She presented Gail with a lovely plaque and a monetary donation to the rescue.
Congratulations to Gail for being recognized for her endless work with Homeward Bound.

Happy Tails
Walter
Greetings from Walter in WI. We got Walter from Homeward bound in a large group of pugs brought to Wisconsin a few years ago. He is doing great! He loves to play with his stuffed pug, sleep under the covers and requires you carry him to bed like an infant human or he won't come! We love him dearly and we thank your organization for all the precious lives you've saved over the years. Dustin Smith

Rainbow Bridge
Precious As many of you know, we took in a sweet senior pug that had an enormous hernia. Gail immediately took her to the vet and they performed the surgery successfully. However, a short time after surgery Precious died. We were devastated, as we had hoped she would live the rest of her life with a forever family who would give her the love and care she always deserved to have. We thank you all for your generous support and prayers. The money we have left over from the donations will go into a fund to help the next pug in need of critical medical care. |
