A FRIEND WE WILL MISS
Bobby Woodall

We will miss Bobby Woodall, who passed away August 6, 2015.  His spirit and ingenuity will remain when we recall his clever engineering of emergency ponchos from a roll of heavy-duty trash bags!

His ready smile always brightened the hygiene distribution area, his favorite work area as a volunteer.  Despite his ongoing struggle with health challenges, he took the time to keep toys, crayons, and coloring books on hand for the children of ODB.

Bobby was remarkable client who became a volunteer and an integral part of our ODB family.

Hot (sort of) New Wheels!

Tom Newell and Daniel Sonney are pleased with our new refrigerated truck ODB is the proud owner of a white, refrigerator/freezer, diesel truck which is parked in the rear parking lot of Saint Andrew Church.

Tarrant Area Food Bank arranged for this gift from a church in Gainesville and gave us access to the new Kroger in Bartonville. Kroger expects to donate about 100 of meat and boxes of pastries each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Billie Bennett, the interim Volunteer Coordinator, is busy recruiting qualified drivers. Tom Newell prepared the protocol for drivers of the truck.

Interested in being a driver? We could put you behind the wheel;

Introducing.... Jay Dunaway

Jay Dunaway has worn quite a few "hats" and name tags here at ODB.  From dishwasher to cook to server then working the program table, Jay has learned about ODB from the floor up.

His quiet and forthright demeanor is just one of  many attributes that suit his new position as Executive Administrator.

ODB is both fortunate and appreciative to have him on staff!

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Billie Bennett has been a volunteer with Our Daily Bread since January, 2011. She has served us in the kitchen, as volunteer check-in, on the Christmas Committee, and graciously offered to help us when we needed assistance in Volunteer Services.

Billie and her husband, Nick, are originally from the Houston area, and both volunteer with us.
We wish to thank their daughters in Denton for luring them from Houston to Denton.

Billie's cheerful nature is a treasured attribute that everyone in her presence enjoys.

Denton High School Teachers: In a Class by Themselves

Back to school is a busy time of year, especially for teachers, but the teachers and staff of Denton High School spent a morning lending a hand to a variety of Denton organizations on
Friday, August 14.

Some of the other organizations who received an extra hand from the Bronco faculty were Keep Denton Beautiful, Ruth's Room, and
Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

And the reason why they went out into the community?  Because of their belief that giving back to the community and doing for others are important.  In the words of Buddy Dunworth, DHS assistant principal, "Giving is bigger than us.

We feel that those at Denton High School got more out of helping our
community than the community got from our help."

Our Daily Bread Reaches Beyond Our Doors

In July, ODB began supplying some of our excess food to Wheeler House, a project of Serve Denton that offers family-style housing and medical services.

By mid-August, we had shared 180 pound of excess food and stocked the pantry with 126 pounds of products. For more information about Wheeler House, click
here.

ODB also supplied non-food items such as blankets, pillows, and kitchen utensils to Monsignor King Outreach Center. We sweetened one delivery with150 pastries! Visit MKOC by clicking  here, or visit their Facebook page here.
