Best Wishes, Jim!

Many of you know Jim Warsop, both a client and volunteer at ODB. Jim has been

seriously ill since early November and has experienced setbacks in the process of recovering.

He needs additional care for the rest of his recovery, and left February 13 to continue his recovery with his son, who is in the 82nd Airborne in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Our local VA volunteer, Ginger Simonson and one other volunteer drove Jim to his son.

Although sad to see him leave, Our Daily Bread celebrated him with good wishes, cake, and the warmth of our community the day his travel to his son began.

Jim has been a valued volunteer for ODB and other non-profits in the area. Being very tech-savvy, he kept our computers in check and did anything we needed him to do. We will miss him dearly.

Jim became an integral part of the ODB community and the larger community in Denton.  One illustration of that community is in the action of the office of Judge Mary Horn, whose office staff collected funds to pay for a week of Jim's stay in a hotel during his recovery. Jim also received much financial and in-kind support from many charities in Denton and many of our gracious volunteers.

The community of Our Daily Bread provides a meal and more, and the entire community was improved by Jim's presence and participation.

We wish him a swift and sure recovery.

The true measure of our ODB volunteers is their willingness to serve others: in any weather, in any capacity.

This is how we make community at Our Daily Bread,
for both guests and volunteers.

We opened, but instead of cooking a meal, we had hot coffee and pastries. Each client could get a snack pack of an MRE. We also gave each client a bus pass to get them back to the emergency shelter on Woodrow Lane.   They were grateful for even limited services today. We appreciate those volunteers that were able to help that icy day.

so clients can enter safely.
Ann Lieberth, one of the hearty volunteer souls that comes to ODB today....did napkins and silver, volunteer check-in. Like so many she did whatever we needed!

Officer Graham, Myles Wood, and Dana Bolin are pleased to be at ODB.
Michael Famigletti braved the weather to clean our ovens !!!
 What a volunteer!

Selwyn School-Love From Little Hearts

Students at Selwyn School wanted to do something nice for Our Daily Bread. They reviewed our website and found what we needed for Homeless Snack Packs. They collected canned meat, canned fruit, granola bars, and much, much more to fill red bags decorated with white and pink hearts. They delivered 58 of these wonderful bags just in time for a Valentine treat for our homeless guests, who were thrilled with such a delightful treat.

Volunteers Galore

Everybody knows that a groundhog can't really predict the arrival of spring, and no one could predict the numbers of new volunteers coming to ODB.
Look at those happy, eager faces, ready to pitch in to help with meals,
services, and the creation of a secure community.

Thank you to all the new volunteers,
 the current volunteers, and
the past
volunteers.

ODB counts on you!
