During the celebration, the parent of a current Crossland Re-Entry student gave thanks to Pathways and congratulations for 10 years:

"If you could do for my daughter all that you've done in 2 years, then imagine all that you've done for others in 10 years. May you have many more years."

Pathways-Crossland Re-Entry this year marked its 10th anniversary at a very special Thanksgiving luncheon.   The celebration included commemorative art by Crossland Re-Entry students, awards, heartfelt words of commendation and gratitude, dance, poetry, and a delicious meal catered by the Crossland High School Culinary Arts Academy. All expressed appreciation of the Crossland Re-Entry program, which enables students to take full advantage of the opportunities of a public high school while receiving individualized academic and therapeutic support.   Pathways-Crossland Re-Entry offers a curriculum with instruction that satisfies state and county requirements for a Maryland high school diploma.
At the same time, students in the Pathways program may take mainstream classes and participate in all Crossland's academies and extracurricular activites.

David Cunningham, a Maryland State Arts Council artist-in-residence, returned to Pathways again this year to help Crossland Re-Entry students create this work of art to commemorate the anniversary.

During the festivities, Sherri Smith from the Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) Nonpublic Office accepted an award on behalf of the Nonpublic Supervisor, Belinda Gantt. Presented by Pathways Executive Director Dr. Tania DuBeau, the award recognized Pathways' partnership with PGCPS both in opening the first Type II school located in a public school in Maryland more than 25 years ago and in following that success by opening another at Crossland High School in 2005.

A Pathways student shared a poem in honor of the day.
Another expressed her appreciation in dance and received a standing ovation.

Dr. Tania DuBeau recognized Maryland State Delegate Tony Knotts for his support. Del. Knotts shared his words of thanks and emphasized the importance of getting an education, ensuring your future, and working for the greater good.
