Support Pathways

The Thanksgiving Luncheon at Pathways-Springville this November concluded with a PowerPoint presentation by student Hunter T.  The presentation had photos of student life at the school and concluded with the words,

"We are thankful for each other and the support and love we give each other. We are thankful for family, togetherness, and love.  WE LOVE OUR PATHWAYS FAMILY!!!! "

.

This is the time of year when we at Pathways pause to remember the ways in which our families, teachers, mentors, and friends reach out with a hand, an idea, a suggestion, or an extra five minutes to help us over that next hurdle or through that next exam.  Our students are assisted by dedicated teachers, skilled therapists, creative artists, caring business people, committed service providers, and many more, all working to offer individualized, innovative programming that is academically rigorous and therapeutically supported.  In this issue, read what our students are thankful for: their school community and the opportunity to learn and express themselves in the visual arts, dance, music and much more.  In this time of gratitude and giving, please consider making a generous donation so that our students will continue to thrive, and like Gene D. and so many other Pathways grads go on to step confidently toward their dreams.

Creative Expression in Paint and Movement

Students at Pathways-Edgewood made self-portraits and abstract paintings depicting their goals and dreams in a visual arts intensive led by artist-in-residence David Cunningham.  The finished works were displayed during a closing reception.

Meanwhile, at Crossland Re-Entry, dance was afoot with Footworks Dance Ensemble founder Eileen Carson.  She led the students on an multicultural exploration of American history, using dance forms brought to the U.S. from every continent.  The result was a joyful outburst of expression in movement and rhythm.

Alumni News

Gene D., (class of 2013) attends Anne Arundel Community College.  At Pathways he demonstrated a high level of skill in computer science, and he is now pursuing a degree in cyber security with the intention of completing his Bachelor's at a four-year college following AACC.  His goal is to work for the U.S. government.  He currently is partnered with YouTube and makes gaming videos, which gives him income for car payments and savings.  He credits Pathways with helping him learn to identify and use strategies to manage anxiety and depression and with allowing him to recognize his abilities and build confidence so that he could move forward with his goals.
