DACC Newsletter | October 18th, 2016
DACC Parents and Families -

Ready or not, the fall weather has arrived! The warm days are becoming few and far between, so we'd like to remind our students of a few points:
  1. Dress for the weather. Even if you plan on spending most of your day at school inside, remember that the occasional fire drill might require you to stand outside in the cold.
  2. Drive safely. Whether it's fog, wet leaves, or snow, the roads can be slippery and dangerous as the weather changes.
  3. For our bus riders, remember to stand back from the road when waiting for the bus. Now that it's dark in the morning, it can be difficult for drivers to see you.
  4. Keep reading for a reminder on our school closings and delays policy.
We hope everyone is able to enjoy all of the fall festivals and festivities that Central Ohio has to offer!

Sophomore Presentations

Throughout the month of October, we are talking to sophomores around Delaware County about their educational options at DACC. If you know a sophomore who could benefit from a career tech education, please share information with them about how they can visit or learn more using the below link.

Cosmetology Open for Business

Our senior Cosmetology students are taking clients on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11:45 - 2:25.

Their price list can't be beat. Call 740.363.1993 to make an appointment.
Manufacturing Month

Collaboration with area businesses is key to the success of our students' education and we couldn't ask for better partnerships. In celebration of Manufacturing Month, our DACC students who attend classes at Dempsey Middle School and Buckeye Valley Middle School were invited to tour local manufacturing plants and learn a little more about the career opportunities available to them.
Students of the Month & Programs of Pride
Brandi Sherry
Sherry is a senior in Pharmacy Technology and comes to us from Buckeye Valley. She was nominated by Mrs. DeMent for doing an excellent job when presenting to the Board of Education and being an overall great student.  Sherry plans to go to college next year for Pharmacy Technology.
Juan Carraso

Tito is a junior in Dental Assisting from Westerville South.  He was nominated by Mrs. Vilkhu for being helpful, responsible, and respectful.  Tito plans to attend college and become an orthodontist.

Programs of Pride Winners - Tyler Pitzer from Digital Design and Taylor Austin from Food Service.
Halloween & Dress Code
As Halloween approaches, we want our DACC families to know that we are not holding a costume day or contest. We appreciate our students continuing to follow the dress code at this time. We hope everyone who celebrates Halloween enjoys doing so at home with friends and family.
School Delays & Closings
School delays and closings can sometimes be confusing and we want to make sure you know exactly what to do. We have posted an  FAQ page on our web site  where we answer these questions about what to expect and what's expected of our students.

Please take a few moments to read through the questions to find a scenario that might apply to you or your child. Many parents find it helpful to bookmark this page for future reference.

Additional questions or special circumstances can be directed to PJ Taylor at (740) 203-2268.
Flu Season - When To Keep Your Child At Home
Cold and flu season is upon us. The school health clinic has seen an increase in visits for vomiting and diarrhea; many require that the student be sent home. Help us to prevent spreading illness to others in the classrooms, by following the guidelines in this document.
Below are resources on the DACC web site that may be helpful to you. If you have questions that these resources do not answer, please don't hesitate to contact us at 740-548-0708.
