DACC Parents and Families -

As we near the end of the first semester, our students are getting more and more opportunities to put their skills to work in the community through work experiences and community service. This is the kind of hands-on training that we are thrilled to see our students get involved in, as it complements everything they are doing in the classroom and in their DACC lab. Below are just some of the activities our students have been up to.

We are excited to continue sharing with you the opportunities our students have to be college, career, and life ready.

If you have any questions, please contact us at(740) 548-0708.

Upcoming Events

November 21st - 25th

School to Career Days

Each year, we have the opportunity to host area tenth grade students and showcase what DACC has to offer. Your son or daughter will not be in attendance that day unless they have been asked to help facilitate the visits. A letter will be sent home soon with more details about these three days.

November 23rd
Delaware Main Street Christmas Parade
Look for our DACC Fire students in the Delaware Christmas Parade. Fire Instructor, Captain Huffman, will be driving the fire truck through the parade and our students will be walking the route, collecting food donations for People In Need. Don't forget to bring your food item for the collection.

November 26th

Parent Conference Compensation Day - No high school classes

November 27th - 28th

Thanksgiving Break - No high school classes

Pumpkin Chunkin' Champions

DACC's Welding and Sheet Metal Fabrication students recently competed in the statewide 'Picktown Throwdown Pumpkin Chunkin' Competition' and claimed first place for the second year in a row!

The process of taking a pile of metal and fabricating it into a trebuchet capable of launching a pumpkin 567 feet through the air is the type of hands on learning that provides our students with real life examples of their classroom studies and keeps them excited about coming to school every day.

DACC/BW FFA Students Take Top Honors

DACC/Big Walnut students recently competed in the Food Science and Technology Career event and claimed 1st, 2nd, 6th, & 8th out of 48 competitors. Congratulations to Troy Herrel, Ben Kessler, Ali Carter, and Lex Marvin!

Read more about this competition on our web site.

College and Career Fair

We were thrilled to host our college and business/industry partners last week for the DACC College and Career Fair. What a great way for our students to explore their options after high school. We appreciate all of the colleges and vendors who participated.

BVMS/DACC Students Honor our Veterans
On November 13th, Tina Francis' DACC/BVMS students welcomed servicemen and women from all branches of the military for a Veterans Day Ceremony to honor their commitment and sacrifices for our country.

School Delays & Closings

School delays and closings can sometimes be confusing and we want to make sure you know exactly what to do. We have posted an FAQ page on our web site where we answer these questions:

--------------------------------

I'm a half-day junior. Do I come to my morning lab on a 1 or 2 hour delay?

I'm a half-day senior. Does my lab start at the regular time on a 1 or 2 hour delay?

I'm a full day senior. On a 1 or 2 hour delay, where should I go upon arriving at school?

My home school is on a 2 hour delay, but DACC is not. What do I do?

I just received my home school's notification that they are delayed/closed and the message stated that DACC is also delayed/closed. What should I do?

--------------------------------

Please take a few moments to read through the questions to find a scenario that might apply to you or your child and bookmark the page on our web site for future reference.

Additional questions or special circumstances can be directed to PJ Taylor at (740) 203-2268.
