Elkton Senior Apartments.

McCrone's Elkton team completed the site design of a new 60-unit senior housing apartment complex located on East High Street in Elkton, MD. The redevelopment project with its many amenities serves the needs of seniors in the Elkton and surrounding area.

   Estimated to be over $11 million, the Elkton Senior Apartments was one of five projects in Maryland that qualified for stimulus funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The four-story building offers a mix of affordable housing consisting of 54 one-bedroom apartments and 6 two-bedroom apartments with appropriate features for senior residents. Amenities and services include:  open living space, ceramic tile baths, wood trim, wall-to-wall carpet, and fully equipped kitchens. The building itself has a large community room with kitchenette, social service program delivery, and a fitness center. The residents of this complex have access to all of the downtown amenities and will be well-served by public transportation.

   McCrone took the project from concept to permits and provided local knowledge and engineering expertise to place the large structure and associated parking on the 1.2-acre parcel. Several stormwater management practices were utilized including a green roof, grass channels, and underground storage chambers with infiltration. Additionally, the McCrone team provided construction phase services.
