Planning a trip 'down the ocean'? You may find yourself a guest at one of two new local Marriott resort hotels where our Salisbury team is providing surveying, engineering design and construction services.

One hotel is a modern design prototype Fairfield Inn with a bold entrance. Situated prominently on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach, DE, it's scheduled to open late 2014.

Because it was important to the client, McCrone worked to maximize the site's unique natural setting, minimize disturbance to surrounding areas and exclusively utilize local resources for this project. An environmentally friendly Miragrid XT Geogrid retaining wall was designed as well as a stand-by power generation system capable of handling capacity requirements of a storm emergency operations center.

Survey services provided by McCrone include boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, elevation certificates and pre/post construction ALTA surveys. Engineering and site design features include biofiltration water quality structures, two underground stormwater quantity management systems, and sanitary pump station.

The second hotel will be a resort style Residence Inn located in Ocean City, MD on Seabay Lane; the site of former Seabay Athletic Club at the Route 90 'Gateway to Ocean City'. Taking full advantage of its scenic location, all rooms and recreation areas will have views of Assawoman Bay. Extensive perimeter landscaping and hardscaping plans will further enhance the natural beauty of the hotel. A boardwalk is planned to allow guests to meander along the natural shoreline leading to an area where kayaks and paddleboats will be available. The Residence Inn is an ambitious project targeted to open for the 2015 summer season.

Survey services provided by McCrone include boundary, topographic, construction stakeout and pre/post construction elevation certificates. Engineering and site design services include water mains, grading and site plans, stormwater management and drainage, permitting, sediment and erosion control, and street lighting. McCrone's design for repair to 61st Street calls for use of porous pavement to better manage stormwater runoff.
