National Older Americans Month
The Area Agency on Aging celebrated National Older Americans Month during May. The Older Americans Act was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965 and amended in 2006. specifying objectives for maintaining dignity and welfare of older individuals. To commemorate this effort, the Area Agency on Aging of East Texas will participate in the following events during the month of June.

Unforgettable Tuesdays
What is Unforgettable Tuesdays?
Unforgettable Tuesdays are weekly gatherings designed to provide safe and enjoyable activities and social experiences for persons who have been diagnosed with some type of memory loss, also known as dementia.
This enables their families and caregivers to have much needed time for rest and errands.
This program is hosted by Greggton United Methodist Church in their Community Room.
Pre registration is required as lunch is provided for the guest.

For Texas families with children who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or deaf with other disabilities, birth through 21 years old. All family members welcome!
As the parent of a child who is deaf or hard of hearing how do we know when and how to effectively take the lead and " STAND OUT" in regards to our child's education and social/emotional development and when should we
" BLEND IN" and teach our children to take the lead? Join us and learn from other parents, professionals and deaf
and hard of hearing adults.

M.O.V.E SUPPORT GROUP
Mobility * Opportunity * Vocation * Encouragement
A disability support grooup for persons with mobility impairment.
M.O.V.E Support Group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. Attendee/guest are invited to bring a sack lunch and join us as we exchange information, resources, and strive to remain independent.
