Community Conversation Report for 2014
Over the course of the year 2014, Salina Area United Way hosted 34 Community Conversations and engaged over 500 local citizens. The purpose was to gain public knowledge, which could then be used to guide community decision-making so the best choices could be made for public policy and with programs.
During those 12 months community members had a lot to say. Salina Area United Way gathered and processed that information and is excited to share with you a report of what the community had to say. Click here to download a copy of the report.
Community Conversations are continuing in 2015! Click here to become a part of the action.
The new SAUW Mission Statement:
Strengthening Our Community.
Free Summer Meals and a Book
During the Free Summer Lunch Program, SAUW staff and volunteers are heading out to three of the lunch sites to read with kids and give out free books! Schilling, Sunset, and Oakdale Elementary Schools are all taking part in RAWR (Raising Active, Wild Readers). The Free Summer Lunch Program runs from May 26 until July 17. SAUW will be at the three elementary schools one day each week. Click here to volunteer & read!
We are excited to announce Tanya Penn as our new Finance & Donor Services Specialist. Originally from White Cloud, Kansas, Tanya has lived in Salina for a year now. Some of her passions include creating community awareness and promoting lifestyle changes that positively impact the whole community.
