Red Nose Day Comes To The USA
On May 21, 2015, Red Nose Day will be celebrated across the U.S. for the first time. This campaign is dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty across the world by making people laugh. Started by the nonprofit organization Comic Relief, Red Nose Day has been celebrated in the United Kingdom for the last 30 years. United Way is one of twelve organizations partnering with and receiving funds raised from Red Nose Day. 50% of the funds raised will be spent here in the USA, while the other 50% will go towards some of the poorest communities in the world in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Tune in to NBC on May 21 for a 3-hour live special celebrating Red Nose Day. Visit the links below to learn more, get involved, fund raise, and fight poverty with laughter.

A Conversation With KHF's Steve Coen
On April 27, Kansas Health Foundation President & CEO Steve Coen came to Salina to speak with community organizations about health in Kansas. County Health Rankings were released earlier this year which compare counties and show what factors drive the current state of our health.
Saturday, May 9 2015 marks the 23rd annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. The Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank is hard at work preparing for this event, and you can participate too! Bags will be provided a few days before the event, and on that Saturday simply leave any goods you wish to donate in the bag by your mailbox. Volunteers are also needed to sort, organize, and process all the food coming in that day. Contact The Volunteer Connection at (785) 823.3128 to sign up. There will be a BBQ lunch for all volunteers!
From 8am - 3pm on Friday, May 8 the Salina Post Office will have a kickoff event with donuts and hotdogs in the back parking lot. If you are unable to leave items out on May 9 you can bring your donation to the Post Office at this time. Call (785) 827.7111 for more details, and to see what foods are accepted.
