The holidays are all about giving. Giving presents is the classic example that comes to mind, but there are so many more ways to give. This November the Salina Area United Way challenges you to give in a way you haven't before. Time, treasure and talent are three keys to success when it comes to a community, and there are so many ways to give each.

When it comes to time we are always wondering how it evades us. A great way to maximize giving the gift of time is to do it with others you enjoy spending time with. Volunteering with family, friends, co-workers, or even your fellow community members can be a great way to build relationships wile giving back.

Treasure is hard earned, and can be even harder to part with. Yet so many in our community are living with less than they need  to sustain healthy lives. Monetary and good donations to your charity of choice can provide tax incentives and leave you with positive feelings for the rest of the week. Many organizations here in Salina have holiday drives for food, clothing, and gifts, so keep an eye out for these types of giving opportunities!

The last way to give would be to give talent. We all have special skills and the world is a better place when we share our knowledge! If you are good with tools, can sing, excel at math, know how to knit, or anything in between, you could give some of that talent to those in need of it.
