Stuff The Bus
July 19 & 20 SAUW held a Stuff the Bus event at KMart, Target, Walgreens, and Walmart. Thanks to everyone who donated school supplies for Salina area children in need!
Back To School Fair 2014
The 2014 Saline County Back To School Fair continues this year for a one-day event! Come to Lakewood Middle School, 1135 E. Lakewood Circle in Salina, KS, from 12pm-7pm Friday, August 8. School & sports physicals, dental screenings, booths, entertainment, and refreshments are from 4-7pm. Families are asked to provide proof of eligibility in the form of a letter stating they receive free or reduced school lunches. Some basic information will be requested when registering for backpacks.

Spotlight on Education in Kansas
The United Way Campaign for the Common Good is mobilizing millions of people and organizations across the country to take action and improve the education, income, and health of America's communities. With your help and the support of our partners, we're bringing the expertise and resources needed to help young people reach their full potential. Take the pledge to support education and cut the drop out rate in half by 2018.
Right now in Saline County...
  • 83.39% of public school students graduate on-time.
  • 85.84% of 5th graders are meeting or exceeding reading standards.
  • 14.12% of minors report binge drinking.
  • 11.28% of minors report using tobacco products.

These figures have room for improvement! Let's keep up the good work and continually strive to positively influence today's youth.
