Match Madness 2014

Match Madness returns on May 6, 2014! This year you can donate in person or online to the Salina Area United Way's endowed fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation. Match Madness is an easy way to have your donation go even further- because all matches up to $1,000 are guaranteed a proportional match of up to 50%!
To donate in person, come to the GSCF office on the 8th floor of the United Building, 119 W. Iron in downtown Salina from 7:00am to 6:00pm on May 6. Donations can be made using cash, check, or credit/debit card.
To donate online, click here and donate from the comfort of your home or office on May 6. Online donations are secure, and can be made using a credit/debit card or via PayPal.
Remember that only donations made on May 6 will be eligible for the local match, so set an alarm or jot down a reminder to make your donation on this special day!
Volunteers needed!
Across the country, community volunteers are stepping up to read to students in efforts to stall the summer slide. Caring adults reading with kids - of all ages, from the early years through high school - are boosting academic achievement together.
United Way needs one million volunteer readers, tutors, and mentors to extend the momentum across the nation. Anyone with passion and commitment can help a young person achieve greater academic success. Volunteers can make the difference!
Again this year on the United Way Day of Action we will have volunteers reading to kids at 9 sites during the free summer lunch program in partnership with USD 305, the Salina Public Library, Books-A-Million, and many local volunteers. Save the date for Friday, June 20 to be involved!
New this year we are also in need of volunteers to read weekly during the free summer lunch program! Separate from the United Way Day of Action, this 8-week event will take place at Sunset and Schilling Elementary Schools. Volunteers will read with kids and then help pass out books for the kids to take home. You will be able to sign up to read once, twice, or all eight weeks! Watch your inbox, we will send the sign-up Mid-May.

Host the t-shirt box for SAUW awareness
Remember the Change for Change t-shirt box that many of you hosted at your workplace in 2013? We thought that perhaps you might like to host the box AGAIN, this time marking halfway until Workplace Campaign begins! The focus of this isn't raising money, instead it is just awareness! The idea is that your business hosts the t-shirt box for a day and employees get to wear jeans that day! Maybe jeans are a regular Five-dollar-Friday thing and you'd like to donate proceeds to SAUW- you are welcome to do that as well! You could call it "June Jeans for United Way" or "Jeans day for United Way"! Click here for more information
