2013 Workplace Campaign End
Salina steps up to be 'Bigger Together'

SAUW Workplace Campaign ended November 22, 2013. Thank you to all the businesses and organizations who participated, and to all the staff who volunteered their time to us! We are still receiving and processing campaign packets, but expect results to be available in January. Many organizations have already reported an increase in overall giving, employee participation, or both. Next up will be the Individual Campaign, followed by the Small Business Campaign, in efforts to promote year-round fundraising.

IRA Asset Charitable Giving

If you are 70.5 years of age or older, you are eligible to take tax-free withdrawals from your IRA, as long as the money goes directly to a charity such as the Salina Area United Way. This charitable rollover offers many tax advantages. Unlike other donations, these are not subject to percent limits, and donating these assets rather than taking minimum required distributions may also enable older donors to avoid certain penalties that come with a higher AGI, such as higher Medicare premiums. The law allowing charitable IRA rollovers is scheduled to expire December 31, 2013. Click here to read more about IRA charitable giving.

Giving Tuesday

With the madness of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, the giving season kicks off in a big way. But what about giving back- especially to those less fortunate during the holiday times? A national movement to inspire giving back called #GivingTuesday began in 2012, and has grown to partner with almost 6,500 non-profit or supporting agencies. December 3, 2013 will be Salina Area United Way's first involvement with #GivingTuesday. On this day, SAUW staff will be out in the community during the day volunteering their time and talents to local organizations. Join us! There are many ways you can give back to the Salina area, and you can even do it with your friends, family, business, or community.
