New Science and Social Studies Standards Posted for Review
The State Board of Education (SBOE) approved the posting of the new science and social studies Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for public comment. These standards are set to replace current Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) in the two subject areas.
The changes in the standards for both subjects were initiated due to results of surveys of educators last summer. PAGE helped distribute those surveys to ensure feedback from members.

Teacher Attrition Survey Presentation
GaDOE staff also presented the findings of the teacher attrition survey taken by more than 53,000 educators in 2015. PAGE's comparison of the GaDOE survey results and our own survey results from last fall show - unsurprisingly - that they mirror each other. The major takeaways are that over-testing and flawed performance evaluations lead to frustration of educators across all grade levels.
