Race to the Top: What was Accomplished?
At its monthly meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2015, the State Board of Education received a report from Dr. Susan Andrews from the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget and Dr. Clara Keith from the GA Dept of Education.

The full report entitled "Race to the Top: What was Accomplished?" is available HERE and broadly describes how approximately $400 million in federal Race to the Top (RT3) funds were spent in Georgia.
2015 TKES & LKES Data
The following slide from the presentation summarizes the 2015 evaluation data of teachers and building-level administrators in the 26 school districts which participated in RT3.

Student growth, largely from standardized tests, comprises 50 percent of the TKES calculation and 70 percent of the LKES calculation, resulting in only 1.9 percent of RT3 building-level administrators receiving an "exemplary" rating in 2015.

RT3 Paves the Way for Georgia Pay-for-Performance?
During her presentation, Dr. Andrews couched the ongoing work of Governor Deal's Education Reform Commission as a continuation of RT3 initiatives.  She praised the recently-distributed RT3 educator merit bonuses, described HERE and HERE, and indicated that the RT3 pay initiative "paves the way" toward implementation of Georgia teacher effectiveness pay.
