The State Board of Education held committee meetings on Wednesday, July 15th and the full Board met on Thursday, July 16th.

Statewide School Nutrition Program Amended     

 

The State Board adopted amendments to the Statewide School Nutrition Program including new and expanded definitions of several school nutrition positions. The amended rule also includes a requirement for classified school nutrition managers to complete 150 credit hours of Core TID courses within their first five years of employment.

Dual Language Model Approved    

 

The State Board also adopted an amendment to a rule that implements a new Dual Language Model as a language delivery option for districts to consider when working with students that are learning to speak English.

Chairman Tippins Introduces YouScience Program      


State Senator Lindsay Tippins (R-Marietta), the Chairman of the Education and Youth Committee of the Senate, presented information about the YouScience program to board members and others in attendance. This program, which is soon to be implemented in Georgia, helps students choose the optimal college or career pathway to ensure their success throughout school and after graduating.
