Community Day is a one-day demonstration of BFOB's core value of Giving Back. Arthur Blank says, "What we are doing is making a difference in people's lives." Social media posts throughout the day included the hashtag
#BFOBGivesBack.
Solterra's founder and CEO Dixie Speck commented, "We love creating beautiful outdoor environments in our community and our passion for giving back aligns with that same BFOB core value. After discovering that Covenant House GA provides shelter, food, care, and resources to over 1,100 homeless and at-risk youth every year, we knew we had to help."
Dixie continued, "The patio paver, located in a shady area of the Covenant House property, gives residents an outside space to talk with a friend, enjoy a game, or have a snack at the picnic tables. These kids have lived tough lives and need healthy ways to cope. Research has shown that for many people spending time in nature is a key way to relieve stress."
Solterra worked closely with BFOB's Drew Trammell to organize and coordinate the CHGA project. Projects in additional community locations were organized and completed by BFOB throughout the day.
A Recent Feature in Atlanta Daybook
Atlanta Daybook featured a story last week about Solterra's involvement in this year's BFOB Community Day. In addition, they mentioned that Dixie is an alumni of Leadership Sandy Springs and supports many of their activities including Solterra's sponsorship of Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs Day. For the past two years, Dixie served as president of the Georgia Urban Ag Council (UAC), Georgia's premier green industry association for professionals involved in all sectors of the urban agriculture industry. She continues to serve on the UAC board. In a joint sponsorship with UAC, Solterra has supported the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA) Career Expo for several years.
