  "Gratitude can transform common days
into thanksgivings,
turn routine jobs into joy,
and change ordinary opportunities into blessings."

Carol Davidson - Red Glasses Looking Right Is it really November? Admittedly the last few months have been a blur. Yes work has been busy (a change of seasons = a feeling of nothing to wear and the need for personal styling). However it's my personal life that had recently given me cause to pause - specifically a home renovation (for those of you who have been through construction, you know how disruptive it can be) and a yet-to-fully-heal, broken foot.

What this meant for me - a gal who loves to go, go, go - was that I was forced to take a timeout. Was I happy about it?  Not really. But upon reflection I am grateful for having had the time to exhale, reflect and re-prioritize. I would have never taken the time for myself and as a very wise friend told me...the break was probably a blessing in disguise.

Maybe it was the downtime and extra sleep. Or maybe it's because Thanksgiving is around the corner. Regardless I find myself thinking about how lucky I am on so many levels. I have a loving and supportive hubby and an amazing circle of friends.  I love what I do and I absolutely adore my clients.  And while I may not have everything I want (who does?), I have everything I need.  Who could ask for anything more?

This time of year fosters a spirit of giving. I find that I am more generous with my time, my resources and interestingly enough, my possessions. Doing what I do for a living, I know better than anyone that we don't wear everything we own.  (If you're curious about the percentage, most of us wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time.)  And I know that we could all do with a little less - present company included.

So it's no wonder that this is the time of year that I turn my wardrobe editing skills on myself and head into my own closet.  Just like when I am with a client, I am pretty decisive about what stays and what goes.  That said, I will share with you that it's a whole lot easier to let things go when you know they are going to someone in need.  Curious as to my process?  Click here for some of the highlights.

Separate but related, when doing a wardrobe edit I invariably find a few items - particularly shoes - that are in need of a little TLC.  With that in mind, I've also shared one of my favorite accessory-related resources.

If after reading this you are encouraged to edit your own closet, bravo!  But please know that if you need assistance for whatever reason, I'm here to help.  In fact, as my way of giving thanks, I'm offering a discount off of any StyleWorks service from now until December 31st.  And yes... This also applies to any gift certificates you purchase. Scroll down or click here for the details.

I'll be back in touch soon, but for now wish you a wonderful month and Thanksgiving holiday spent with those who mean the most to you.

One more thing...I'm so very thankful you are in my life!

With warm and stylish regards,

CD

With a wardrobe review you may find that some of your accessories are showing some wear (or in need of repair). Here comes Leather Spa to the rescue! "Understandably expensive" is how I'd describe their pricing but no one can breathe new life into well-worn or damaged shoes and handbags like they can. Long known as the go-to for luxury stores and brands (think Manolo, Louboutin, Fendi and so on) they have been rubber-stamped by fashion editors and glossy magazines alike. (Time Out New York has called them "the celebrated shoe doctor of choice to the rich and picky.") They guarantee the highest quality leather repairs and preventative maintenance, not to mention particularly long-lasting results. Think of them as the "crme de la crme of cobblers" and just the right choice for your most loved and/or investment shoes and handbags.
