Feb. 7, Kick-off Black History Month with

Join us at the Pearl Bailey Library as members of the Library's Teen Advisory Committee unveil an artistic mural created under the direction of local award winning artist and muralist Hampton Boyer and Dr. Margaret Bristow. The mural was made in commemoration of the literary works of Virginia Hamilton, the first African American to win the coveted Newbery Award Medal in 1974. Sponsored by the Friends of the Pearl Bailey Library.

Feb. 3 - Mar. 2, Winter Reading Program

Valentine's Day Craft Events

Main Street Library: Feb. 12, 4:00 pm. Children ages 5-11 can create their own Valentine's Day cards and decorations.

Pearl Bailey Library: Feb. 12, 4:30 pm and Feb. 14, 2:30 pm. Children ages 6-11 can make a fun Valentine's gift with provided materialsRegistration required.

Presented by Newport News Shipbuilding, the inaugural Newport News One City Marathon will take place Sunday, March 15, 2015. The marathon will run the entire 26 mile length of the city, with Newport News Park as the setting for the start of the race and the Victory Arch in downtown will serve as the finish line.
