TELL IT AGAIN!

What a glorious celebration of Easter we shared together last week. I can still hear Dr. Matthews reading aloud the story from Luke, "Early on the first day of the week they came to the tomb..." Even after four worship services, I found myself wanting to say, "Tell it again!" Tell me the Easter Story one more time.
As human beings, we never really outgrow our love of a story well-told. As children, we beg for the same favorite books to be read over and over again. As families, we love to hear beloved memories retold year after year. As a nation, we remember our history and teach it to our children.
Nathan Kirkpatrick at Duke Divinity School reminds us, "We make sense of the world and our place in it through story. Story is how we create meaning, how we interpret reality, and how we come to know who we are and why we are. That is why when we hear a story that we know is good and true, we say, 'Oh, tell it again.'"
The Easter Story is one of those stories. It reminds us of who we are and whose we are. We are beloved children of God who are saved by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We may not understand every detail behind the story, but we proclaim it as an act of faith. "He is not here, but has risen."
Tell it again! Tell the Easter story again! Each time we tell it, our faith gets stronger. Each time we tell it, our hearts are changed. Each time we tell it, we remember that anything is possible with God. It's the story of our faith and we need to tell it again and again.
