WELCOME, DR. MOSES

This week we have the privilege of welcoming Dr. Oral Moses to our pulpit as guest preacher. Dr. Moses is an old friend to our congregation, having sung with and for us in
worship on numerous occasions. What a treat to have him lead us not only in song, but also in Word.

These past months, the news headlines have been filled with tragedy. The problems are difficult and complicated, and there are no simple answers. In difficult times, however, we find ourselves looking to the resources of our faith for guidance. God promises to speak if we are willing to listen. When we listen to a new voice, we just might hear God speaking to us in a new way.

Dr. Moses is a lifelong United Methodist (his membership is with Ben Hill UMC in Atlanta), a bass-baritone singer, a researcher, and an educator. He is a retired Professor Emeritus at Kennesaw State University and his research and teaching center around Afro-American music, especially the Negro Spiritual. He has recorded numerous CDs and performed with a variety of national symphonies. To learn more about Dr. Moses, you can visit his website (www.oralmoses.com).

More than anything else, Dr. Moses is a man of deep and profound faith. He joins the entire Christian family in longing for a world filled with peace, love and justice for all people. If you have heard Dr. Moses sing, then you will certainly want to hear him preach!

Welcome, Dr. Moses. Thank you for leading us in worship.
