Good Morning ,
Last month I spent 3 very enjoyable days at the NEC Classic Car Show talking, eating and even dreaming about Figs! Each year we learn more about how to do this show better and indeed this year another lesson as members were hoping to buy 'Club T-Shirts' from the stand which we didn't have for sale (note to self for next year). The amount of people we spoke to was simply mind-boggling, many of which instantly fell in love with the shape and quality of the car. 'I feel so proud showing off these special little cars and get such a buzz seeing peoples reactions when I tell them all the cars were built with the same spec and include retractable soft-top, power steering, automatic gearbox, air-conditioning, leather interior and CD player and more...'
The best reaction was from a lady who thought the club car was brand new and when I told her it was 24 years old she just couldn't believe it.
15 Cars already booked for Scotland Thanks for the early support for our Scotland Rally. With still 6 months to go it could be our best attended ever. No deposit is required to Register at this stage and rooms are limited so don't delay and go for it! Register here

Rear Fog Light Problem

QUESTION
Hello all you fig electrical guru's...... I have a problem with little figs rear fog light. The switch was damaged so I have fitted a new one today. The original switch was a three pin type, so I fitted a new three pin switch. The original switch has been damaged and not working since we have owned the car, therefore I don't know if the circuit was working before I fitted the new switch today. Anyway..... when I put the fog lights on, the reversing buzzer sounds!! Any ideas??? Sandy.
ANSWER I think that's because you either have the connections round the wrong way and you are powering the negative part which is probably shared with the reversing light or your using the wrong type of switch. Normally switches have symbols on them that show the connections, also just because it has three connections doesn't mean the are all the same...Read more Note: You need to be logged in

QUESTION
My wife's Fig has always had problems with idling and holding revs while driving around town. I've tried numerous things with it including changing the Lambda sensor and increasing the idle speed but it still sort of pulses from 900 up to 1200 revs and back again when stationary and almost stalls sometimes when going up a hill. I bought the new Lambda sensor off eBay but after getting the garage to install it, it made no difference to the running of the car so figured it maybe wasn't the issue. Replaced the cold idle valve at the weekend with a new unit but that hasn't helped either so found the GJNorthall link about the diagnostics, checked them last night and only got 2 or 3 flashes (at the most) from the green LED at 2000 rpm in P suggesting there's still an issue with the Lambda sensor's function. Going to buy a second replacement Lambda sensor and replace it again but just wanted to confirm if anyone else had similar pulsing issues with the revs and what the outcome was. Also, aside from eye-balling the cabling into the sensor, is there anything else I should do to make sure the sensor is faulty? Thanks!
ANSWER
Had one with the same sort of symptoms and it was the blanking plug on the small pipe at the back of the intake chamber missing. Also does it make any difference with the windows down ? Nick.

QUESTION
Any thoughts or similar experiences that anyone has on this would be really gratefully received, as we are completely stumped at the moment! When trying to drive out this morning, Bobby was making a clicking/scraping noise from near the front passenger wheel area. The noise is there regardless of going forwards or backwards; remained the same with the engine off and my husband pushing. Other than coming from the general area close to the front passenger wheel, we couldn't see anything that could be the source of the noise. From searching online, I'm wondering if it could be the CV joint - does anyone have experience of this failing in their car and what noise it made? Any ideas of things to check in order to diagnose? Otherwise, I guess we need to get a tow truck to take it him to the garage for a proper check!? Many thanks, Adele
ANSWERA worn cv joint does make a clicking noise but usually when driving with the steering on a full lock under load ,unlikely to hear it by just pushing it .Scraping noise could be from brakes -pads or back plate rubbing. Nick

ABOUT THE CLUB
|
Our Mission Statement "to provide comprehensive advice and information to both present and future owners (in addition to having lots of fun in the process) and to ensure these wonderful cars and their providence is preserved for the next generation of owners"
So how did the club start? My son 'Daniel' had always wanted a Figaro having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad!) he at last brought an emerald green model in May 2008. Following the purchase we searched on the internet for a club in the hope we could attend events with other owners but were amazed that no club existed... So the Figaro Owners Club was born! We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the publish button and waited to see if anyone wanted to join? Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478. Today the club has almost 1,600 members worldwide and our website is used by over 45 countries! Thanks to all our supporters and members for their support.
