Hi ,
and welcome to our June 2014 Nissan Figaro Owners Club Newsletter.

Is the Figaro just too easy to steal?
A couple of weeks ago another members car was stolen from outside her house. The police were called and the insurance company notified as the owner waits nervously to see if the car turns up. Unfortunately most of these stories have a similar unhappy ending as the car vanishes into thin air.

Stolen to order by professional gangs
The word on the street is that many are broken down and sold as spares online by these scrum bags where they know that no providence is required and no questions asked. After all who of us ever query where a part comes from? They are trying to sell to individuals not companies who would want to know.

If they don't end up as a part for sale the stolen car might have its chassis number removed and replaced by cars which are not in good condition. So the chassis number of a bad condition Figaro goes onto the stolen car which is in good condition, as Figaros do not have an engine number on the log book this again is something we as a club need to aware of when buying Figaros from unrepeatable sources.

What can we do?
Buy parts and cars from well known 'Reputable Dealers' only
When buying we urge everyone to buy from 'Reputable Dealers' known to the club and listed on our website. These companies will only buy parts/cars from a known source. If you're unsure why not ask the question on our forum where there's an army of owners with extensive knowledge who can help.

Install a GPS tracker?
Just imagine the horror when you find your Figaro is not where you parked it but then you make a call to a monitoring station and they tell you that they can see where your car is located and have notified the police. In addition to the joy of getting your car back you also have the added pleasure that the scumbags that stole it have been arrested! TRACKER will supply and fit for a one-off charge of 249 + 99 a year to monitor. Read more

Mouse beds down in Figaro
"One of our members car kept jolting less than a mile from home and then stopped dead in the road and would only start again after being left several minutes. After investigation it was found the air filter had recently been occupied by a mouse as it was blocked up with seeds and all chewed up!" Read more

What about this as a clarion replacement!
"Unfortunately the Fiat radio is a no go. It has CAN BUS control and is incompatible with the Figaro. All according to my local car audio guy. Ah well"..

This is a real shame does anyone know if this can be overcome?

Fan won't kick in?
Fuel Gauge not working?
Front Bumper Removal
Hi guys finally getting somewhere with my fig several leaks later car ticks over few more Dubley clips on and should be good but, radiator fan won't kick in powered the 2wires and fan spins, checked 20a fuse and that's good now relays it could be I think there by the power steering 1 low 1 High any ideas on we're I can get relays from ??? Also when I put blower on inside there's no heat so I am assuming air lock in system.

There are two rad fan relays ,one on each inner wing forward most ones both the same, part no 25230-61A05 or 25230-61A10 depending on make . If you disconnect the switch in the bottom of the rad and by-pass it by joining the wires harness side [ two speed fan]and the fan comes on you know the circuit is alright and it must be the switch. Will need to bleed the system to get the heater hot but they usually bleed quite easy. Nick

So before I start throwing hammers around and turning the air a darker shade of blue, can anyone enlighten me on a common fault with the fuel gauge. It's just stopped working......

What have you done!!! .... I mean have you changed anything or removed anything? Not aware of anything specific, I think the fuses are shared so have you checked the connections on the back of the gauge and under the back seat. If you have done all that then I can look at the wiring diagrams to see what to check. If you have a speedo handy you could try swapping over with another Fig

I'm removing my bumpers to rustproof the inside of them. I've removed the rear no problem but I have a question regarding the front bumper. I've removed 2 double bolts either side of the centre but it seems to fixed at the corners also via these bolts (see attached),one on each corner. It looks to me like these square nuts are welded to the bumper therefore do I have to get to the bolt head above by removing the plastic cover/guard as seen at the top of the photo? Or are these square nuts not welded on, if not how do I remove them? Just to be clear, these square bolts are located on the inside top of the bumper at each corner. Apologies for stating the obvious to the experts out there. Sorry for the picture quality but hopefully you get the gist.

Yes that is a welded nut to the bumper corner. You need to access the bolt head from the other side - inside. If you undo the screws\bolts holding in the black plastic splash surround in the area of the wheel arch you can get access. You can just see one of them in your second pic.

ABOUT THE CLUB

Our Mission Statement
"to provide comprehensive advice and information to both present and future owners (in addition to having lots of fun in the process) and to ensure these wonderful cars and their providence is preserved for the next generation of owners"

So how did the club start?
My son 'Daniel' had always wanted a Figaro having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad!) he at last brought an emerald green model in May 2008. Following the purchase we searched on the internet for a club in the hope we could attend events with other owners but were amazed that no club existed... So the Figaro Owners Club was born!
We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the publish button and waited to see if anyone wanted to join? Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478. Today the club has almost 1,600 members worldwide and our website is used by over 45 countries!

Thanks to all our supporters and members for their support.

Warmest Regards
