Hi and welcome to our November Newsletter. This month we've launched our 2013 Figaro Wall Calendar and it's by far the best to date. Can we just say thanks to everyone who submitted pictures, we really do appreciate the time and effort that goes into everyone of them, but in the end there had to be a selected final 12. Hope you enjoy it Click here

Thanks also to everyone who took the time to complete our online Survey last month the information has proved so valuable. For instance we now have great feedback on where to hold rally's and events in the future!

Last month I posted a couple of questions on the forum which both got answered within 24 hours, most impressive! Our forum continues to grow with almost 2,000 Topics now. It is without doubt the definitive source for everything Figaro. The Q & A Ownership A-Z now has 750 Topics alone! Thanks to everyone who continues to help us run it (Caz what would I do without you) and the regular forum contributors (you know who you are).

Lastly Normandy continues to attract interest with 19 Cars now booked for the adventure. Continental Car Tours are working on the routes and we have our French helpers Pascal/Natalie & Phillipe/Edith looking into places to eat!

Catch you all next Month :)

PS - We urgently require stories and pictures of you and your car for our December Newsletter so if have any pop them over on an email

NEW EVENT - Sunday April 28th 2013 Incarnation BRIGHTON

We have been contacted by Sarah at the Ace Cafe about the Incarnation Event which is held on the Brighton Seafront. We thought it would be a blast to meet somewhere on route and turn up together. The event has been added to our Events Page Click here

2 BILLION WATCH FIGGY OWNER

A few months ago 83 year old Henry Butt sent us a pack of information on his boat 'Jolly Brit' which he sailed in the Jubilee Flotilla. The pictures took me back to that amazing day (shame about all the rain). Yes we know its not really car related but as Henry is such a Figaro fan we just had to publish it...

SKIDDING

WHAT SHOULD A DEALER WARRANTY?
STARTING PROBLEMS
Has I wonder if anyone can help me.The rear of my Betty seems to skid and steering becomes light whenever i drive over an uneven road surface (like a manhole) and i don't feel i have control for a few seconds. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Manholes are notorious for causing problems - just ask anyone who has ever ridden a motorcycle, however they should not cause the problems you are experiencing. Are there any strange knocking or clanking noises coming from the suspension? You may have a number of issues which could include a combination of leaking/ failed shock absorbers to worn out ball joints and/or suspension bushes and mountings. Figs aren't that great in the handling department, particularly compared to modern cars but they certainly are not dangerous. You also need to get the steering and front suspension checked. As a first step which you can do at home I'd simply check all the tyre pressures are correct and that the tyres are not damaged ("eggs" in the sidewalls etc) and have plenty of tread. If they are ok then try bouncing each corner of the car to check the shocks - press down on each corner to compress the suspension and release - if the car keeps bouncing then the shocks need replacing. You may also hear some noises if you do this which will give you a clue. Next step is to take the car to a decent local garage (probably not Kwik Fit or similar in my experience) and ask them to put it up on the ramp. They can then carry out a thorough check on all the suspension bushings and ball joints and steering as well as checking for leaks from the shocks etc. If they say that things needs replacing ask them to show you exactly why. I hope this is useful.
I have been offered a 3 months warranty with a Fig from a general used car dealer, I know this is a legal requirement but I would like to know what I expect to have included.

Hi. The hA warranty is not a legal requirement- the legal side states that the item should be fit for its purpose -ie get you from A to B in an acceptable manner. Warranty's vary in cover & price-if you are a distance from the trader you may have problems getting the car back- I would suggest you consider asking them to put an independent warranty on the car from one of the many companies on the Internet-they tend to have a network of repairers, the one i use authorizes kwick fit branches for repairs- slightly more copper bottomed than a sole trader & possibly less likely to disappear or talk a problem away- 100 as an average cover.

Hi there,Hope someone can help me. My car always starts first time, even after not being used for a couple of weeks. But recently, after I have taken a short trip and turned the engine off, when I get back in to start the car all the dashboard lights come on but the engine doesn't start! It sometimes works if I manually shift the gear into drive, but no idea why. Also, my CD player has suddenly stopped working too! I had the garage replace the bush at its last service, but still happens! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd say it is almost the "won't start in park" bush, I'd suspect it probably was replaced or done properly by your garage, take a look yourself, or get a friend who is into cars to look, it'll be obvious to anyone who knows just the basics about cars. Where are you located? Regarding the CD, is it the original factory player you have in your car? Does the radio part still work?

About the people behind the Figaro Owners Club
MY CARMy son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro and after saving for years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad!) he brought an Emerald Green one in May 2008. That was it - I was hooked too! Even now we spend many a happy weekend polishing her in the garage.

We just love all that chrome... After buying the car we started searching the internet for ownership help and advice and although a forum existed there was no real club so in December 2008 we started designing and building the web site which took around 4 Months. The club was formed in February 2009 and launched on 1st March 2009

Warmest Regards
