EnGen Achievement Award - Call For Nominations

We're looking for individuals with amazing accomplishments so we can celebrate their success with all of the business community.

The EnGen Business Achievement Award, presented by the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce is the opportunity to share and celebrate these inspirational individuals. The Award is designed to recognize individuals in our community who are under the age of 40 and who are making their mark in the Greater Oshawa area and beyond. Their individual achievements may be through career and business accomplishments, personal & professional development and/or contributions to the community.

To be eligible, they must be between the ages of 18 and 40, a full-time resident and/or business owner in the Greater Oshawa area for at least two years; or employed at a business of any kind; or active as a volunteer for a non-profit organization; or a student at post-secondary institution in the Greater Oshawa area.

If you know of an individual who has made outstanding achievements, we encourage you to nominate them by August 4, 2015. The finalist will be celebrated at the Business Excellence Award Gala dinner September 24, 2015 when the winner will be announced

Durham Realtors Celebrate 10 Years Of Riding And Raising Money For Charity

A group of motorcycle-riding Realtors en route to Ottawa dropped in to Durham to help raise funds for shelter-related causes and charities across Ontario. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Motorcycle Ride for Charity, an annual event organized by the Ontario REALTORS Care� Foundation. Over $620,000 has been raised for the Foundation so far this year. Turn The Tables On Hunger

Northern Lights Canada (NLC) is celebrating 30 years in business with a renewed commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. They are proud of the contributions made in the communities they work in and are grateful for the support they have received from the public, businesses and community partners. NLC believe that the best way to celebrate their success, and express their gratitude to those that have made it possible, is to find ways to give back. All staff at NLC decided that the cause they would like to support is eradicating hunger. On June 4th, over 180 NLC employees fanned out in communities across Ontario and partnered with organizations, individuals and businesses to contribute to this cause and collected and donated over 500 pounds of food!

Feed The Need In Durham Initiates A Crisis-Driven
"Call To Action"

Feed the Need in Durham initiates a Durham-wide "call to action" to address the crisis in their warehouse. Shelves are running bare as they struggle to meet the needs of food banks, shelters and other social services agencies across the Region. Join their fight to alleviate hunger in our communities. Run a food drive. Hold a fundraiser. Donate online. Every dollar donated can purchase three meals for someone in need. Most needed items include canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruits, beans and peanut butter. Durham Region, your community needs your help this summer. URGENT NEED FOR BLOOD!

Canadian Blood Services logo Canadian Blood Services needs the Oshawa community to visit the blood donor clinic at 1300 Harmony Road North in order to keep up with hospital demand. The clinic is open 6 days a week: Mon 3-7pm, Tues and Thurs 3-8pm, Wed 10am -2pm, Fri 9am - 1 pm and Sat 8am -1pm. Specifically they really need donors to make appointments on the August holiday weekend Friday (9am to 1pm) Saturday (8am to 1pm) and Monday (10am to 2pm), they have several appointments available. Due to unforeseen circumstances the group they had secured to support the weekend are unable to attend, leaving the them short in appointments. One person will make the difference in the lives of many! UOIT Receives $26.9 Million In Federal Support For Major New Research Centre

The Honourable Erin O'Toole, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Member of Parliament for Durham was joined by Tim McTiernan, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) to announce funding of up to $26.9 million for the new Centre of Advanced Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CARIE) building under the New Building Canada Plan, in Ontario. This project will provide much needed academic, entrepreneurial and research spaces on the UOIT campus. The new CARIE building will include the construction of new teaching labs, collaborative space for ventures focusing on applied research and development, as well as conference and seminar rooms. The facility will bring together services and resources to support entrepreneurial talent and facilitate collaborative research with industry, academic and community partners.
