Greater Oshawa Chamber Members Tops in Ontario

Congratulations! Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce (GOCC) members are Tops in Ontario. Recently the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce membership participated in the Ontario Chamber of Commerce's (OCC) latest survey "How Confident Are You In Ontario's Economy".

In early November the Chamber sent out a special request to the membership asking them to add their voice to Canada's most credible survey of business opinion and complete the OCC policy survey which was sent to the over 130 Chambers in the OCC network. The GOCC's challenge was to beat last year's number of respondents to the survey and set a record, possibly even have the highest numbers in Ontario.

The OCC completed its full survey results and of the 2143 responses, 1901 were from Chamber members across Ontario. The OCC received 175 responses from Greater Oshawa members, doubling last year's numbers. "Outstanding! That is a new single Chamber record and whatever you did to generate that response rate, thank you," stated the OCC in an email.

Way to go...thank you to the GOCC members who participated!

HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas!
Mark Shuwera, Executive Director of Simcoe Hall Settlement House was overwhelmed with the generosity of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce members who brought donations to the Chamber's Annual Christmas Wine & Cheese, held on December 3 at the Ontario Regiment. All toys and non perishable food items were given to Simcoe Hall Settlement House to help make their Christmas promise to families in need in our community a reality. There is still a need for more! We are on a mission to fill Bob's Equinox for a second time! You can drop off your donation to the Chamber office at 44 Richmond Street West in Oshawa, any time, before 5PM on Friday, December 20th. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM .

Filling Over 1300 Christmas Hampers
Simcoe Hall Settlement House has started its Annual Christmas Food and Toy Drive and will soon be assembling food hampers for many families in the Oshawa area. Last year they provided hampers to 1300 families and current numbers indicate the need will be even greater this year. While donations from the community have been fantastic, the reserves of peanut butter, canned milk and canned fruit are critically low. Anything you could do to help at this time would be greatly appreciated. You can drop off any non-perishable food items or toys to Simcoe Hall directly at 387 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa until Dec. 24. For more information, call 905-728-7525 or visit
