It is with great joy we announce almost $170,000 in donations was raised at our Call to Hope fundraising breakfast on Thursday, April 18! Add to that our sponsorships of the event and a Call to Hope pledge made last month, and that number rises to almost $280,000 -- how truly wonderful for Shepherd's Hope patients!
Shepherd's Hope is dedicated to helping people that would otherwise go without medical care because they don't have health insurance and can't afford a doctor's visit, diagnostic testing or prescribed medication. Low income men, women and children are forced to choose between medical care and other basic necessities, such as food, clothing and rent.
Last year alone, more than 2,000 volunteers served; 54,078 volunteer hours were recorded and $3.6 million was donated in volunteer services. Shepherd's Hope provided more than 20,000 patient visits and medical services, and we expect that number to rise despite healthcare reform.
The need for help continues for our uninsured, low-income neighbors. Even once healthcare reform is fully implemented, it is universally agreed that millions will remain without access to medical care. But that's where Shepherd's Hope has been and will continue to be the resource for quality health services. With our dedicated volunteers and our intricate network of partners, we are resolved to serve now and in the future.
If you weren't able to attend our Call to Hope Breakfast, there is still an opportunity to give to support the mission of Shepherd's Hope by contacting our central office at 407-876-6699 x 228 or you may click here and make a donation. Thank you so much!
