Students Use Only Six Words To Write Their Memoirs.
In Mr. Wright's Creative Writing class, students were asked to write their memoirs. The only catch? The memoirs had to be exactly six words. The outcome was inspiring. The six-word memoirs created by the students were creative, sometimes funny, sometimes somber, and always conveyed more in six words than anyone could have expected.
The students were inspired by the Six-Word Memoirs from SMITH Magazine (sixwordmemoirs.com) and their book Not Quite What I was Planning: Six Word Memoirs from Writers Famous and Obscure.
During the month-long project, students were asked to think of many different aspects of the memoir, including elements of graphic design like a background image and which typeface would best compliment their memoir. Of course, finalizing the six words took many peer editing sessions and revisions.
Once each student was happy with their final memoir, they set to work as group synthesizing their different memoirs into one video. There were different parts to this, a major one being choosing the background song that would accompany the film.
The 2015 six-word memoir film can be viewed at: www.sixwordmemoir.wikispaces.com.
