Dear AMHS Community: We are delighted by all the great events at AMHS during the Fall. We are grateful as a community for the generosity of time, talent and giving for our important and diverse events. We are thankful for PIE's (Partners in Education) hard work on registration, the international dinner, teacher appreciation activities, and we look forward to the silent auction in March. We are thankful for SIC's (School Improvement Council) continued work and support of school activities such as the senior seminar, 9th grade health speakers, and diversity initiatives. We are thankful for the AMHS Booster Club's ongoing support of our athletic teams with the tailgate suppers and Raptor advertising. We are thankful also for the community's support of the AMF (Academic Magnet Foundation) as it works to raise funds to help secure the future for AMHS in STEM education and Global Studies such as Chinese 101-102, 201-202. As current chairs of these parent organizations, we have a joint vision and commitment to serve our children's school and to help AMHS soar to new academic heights through participation in our Thanks4Giving Campaign. Thanking you for your continued support and wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving. Kelly Yost, PIE Stacey Lindberg, SIC Donna Rose, AMHS Booster Club Cliff Woods, AMF

Ongoing
South Carolina Competes is geared primarily toward providing educational opportunities for students across the socioeconomic spectrum. We have two major initiatives, and will be starting at least one more in the coming weeks. These initiatives allow students to choose to either volunteer in a continuing project, or to volunteer for various one-time events. Our FARE Play (Fantasy Athletics Real Education) initiative is a fantasy sport league where student volunteer mentors engage middle and elementary students in mathematics tutoring through sports statistics. Our ACE (Athletes' Cooperative Education) initiative creates volunteer opportunities for student athletes from differing socioeconomic backgrounds to work together and engage in conversations about their differing perspectives.
For more information on South Carolina Competes, please contact them at sccompetes@gmail.com . -----
