To thank our dedicated teachers and staff,
and help them add to their Thanksgiving tables, the PIE Teacher and Staff Appreciation Committee is collecting $10 GROCERY STORE gift cards.  Please send 1  or 2 cards into the office (in an envelope labeled "Kristi Wallace - Appreciation") by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 If the amount of the cards is different than $10, please let us know how much is loaded on the card.  If we have extras, we will combine them for a more generous gift.  Thank you for continuing to support our wonderful AMHS teachers and staff!

PIE has a New Treasurer!

A huge thank you to Jim Coman for volunteering to be PIE's new Treasurer.   Jim comes to us with a wealth of financial experience.  He is currently  CFO of a mid-size construction company and parent of an AMHS freshman.  We look forward to working together.  Jim has jumped on board just in time for our Fall Fundraiser!   Sarah Winters, our outgoing treasurer, is not really going anywhere as she continues to serve on both the PIE and the Athletic Booster Club Boards.   Thank you Sarah for your continued efforts at AMHS.

Please come out and support the AMHS Raptors at their various sports. Check our website for all fall sports schedules at: www.amhsboosterclub.org

Community Service Opportunities

November 1 -

Someone you may know suffers from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, debilitating digestive diseases also known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). These diseases affect 1.6 million Americans, including 80,000 children. Walk with us in 2015 and help us get one step closer to cures.  Our Take Steps walks offer a wonderful day for family, friends and the community to celebrate all of the efforts that have been put forth in raising funds towards our mission to find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.. Our walk day is filled with music, food, kids' entertainment, educational information and fun.

Join us on November 1st at James Island County Park.  Registration begins at 2:00.  You can volunteer to walk and raise funds and awareness today at http://cctakesteps.org/charleston or volunteer to assist on event day by emailing [email protected].

November 8 - MDA Muscle Walk

Please help support one of our own and the Muscular Dystrophy Association at the MDA Muscle Walk at the RiverDogs stadium on Sunday, November 8th from 11am-2pm.

Caleb Sizemore, an Academic Magnet 2015 graduate, has organized a Muscle Walk team to help raise funds for MDA research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (the disease which affects him) and to raise awareness of the impact of neuromuscular diseases on so many individuals and families. Please come join Caleb, friends, family, and dozens of other teams in the non-competitive walk around the stadium to support those with muscle diseases.

MDA is a voluntary health agency that funds cutting-edge neuromuscular disease research; ensures that all Americans affected by these diseases receive treatment and critical care; and serves as a voice for families with neuromuscular diseases. MDA has built the nation's only neuromuscular clinic network, with over 200 MDA clinics, which provides expert treatment for those with neuromuscular diseases. MDA also provides free summer camps designed specifically for kids with muscle diseases.

Academic Magnet has raised almost $1,700 for the Caleb's Muscle Walk team this year, and the total raised so far this year for Caleb's team is $6,300. Those funds are designated for research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy cures and treatments. You can donate to his team at this link:  Caleb's Cure.

Please join us at the Muscle Walk! Just show up at the stadium at 11a.m. on Sunday, Nov 8th, and we will do the quick registration stuff, and you will join up with Caleb and his team and participate in the walk around and in the stadium. Lunch and lots of other fun activities are included. Help us to Make a Muscle and Make a Difference.
