THE RAPTOR REPORT
Principal Points: September
judith
The school year is off to a terrific start! We will have our annual PIE Open House Thursday, September 10th at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the activities PIE has planned for the year, to meet your student's teachers, and to learn of the academic expectation for the school year. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.

Arrival/Dismissal Update: We have over 700 cars coming and going on the Bonds-Wilson campus every day, and we want to ensure everyone's safety. All cars dropping off and picking up students are asked to stay in the right hand lane. Do not enter the teacher or student parking lots to drop off or pick up students. This will keep traffic flowing and allow students and teacher to park easily and to leave the campus safely.

Early Dismissal for Students: If a student must leave before the 3:15 dismissal time, he/she must bring a note to Ms. Redfern at the start of that day. Ms. Redfern will then give the student a pass to leave school early. This is the only way students will be allowed to leave school early.

Other Coming Attractions

AMHS Spring Break 2016

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.

We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.

We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.

The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price - a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You can reach me by phone at 746-1300, ex. 26227 or by email at Mary_Altman@charleston.k12.sc.us.

Community Service Opportunities

Children's Museum of the Lowcountry

We have our biggest event of the year on Saturday, September 19th, FAM JAM.  It's our 11th Annual Fam Jam festival in Marion Square!
For a child, PLAY is the vehicle for exploring and learning, developing new skills, and connecting with others. Through self-directed PLAY, children can follow their interests, explore the unknown, link outcomes with choices, conquer their fears and make friends. PLAY also has important links to developing key skills that serve as a foundation for life-long success, including critical thinking, communication, problem solving and collaboration.

We need all sorts of volunteers for this fun event.  Get a big group together or just bring yourself, either way, we're sure you'll have a great time!  Please sign up through signupgenius.com:  click on the link below:
