foyer Welcome back, AMHS!
THE RAPTOR REPORT
Principal Points: August/September
The school year is off to a terrific start, and I thank you all for your support of the students, faculty and program. The calendar is filling up quickly, and I encourage you to mark the dates listed:
 judith
School Pictures: The big day for all student pictures will be Monday, August 31st.
We are doing it differently this year, and it is important that every student in Grades 9 - 11 has his/her picture taken on Monday the 31st, for it is this picture that will appear in the yearbook. The schedule for the pictures will be set by the AMHS Yearbook adviser and staff.

Senior Parent College Awareness Night: Seniors and their parents are invited to Senior Parent Night on Thursday, September 3rd at 5:30 PM in the Lecture Hall. At the meeting, Ms. Ware and Ms. Taylor will review the critical steps in the college application and scholarship process for the year. I listened to their presentation to the Seniors, and I urge all senior parents to attend this important meeting.

We will have our annual PIE Open House on Thursday, September 10th at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the activities PIE has planned for the year, to meet your student's teachers, and to learn of the academic expectation for the school year. I look forward to seeing everyone there; please mark your calendars now

Other Coming Attractions

Early Dismissal for faculty professional development will be Wednesday, September 23rd, and students will be dismissed at 1:15 PM.

Homecoming: Spirit Week, Pep Rally, Football Game and Homecoming will take place September 14 - 18, and it is always a wonderful week at Magnet.

Graduation: Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2016 will take place May 31, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.

Again, we are "up and running" on the school year and look forward to serving you and your student as best we can. Thank you for your continuing support!

AMHS Spring Break 2016

Trace the path of Ancient History! Experience the Acropolis, Delphi, the Temple of Poseidon, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Ephesus.

We have slightly revised the trip for Spring Break 2016. With consideration for getting the best value for our money without missing too much school, we are offering a 10-day trip to Greece and Turkey.

We offered a trip to Greece a few years ago, and it was a great success, particularly the islands! Please take a look at the itinerary online or send me an email if you would like a hard copy. You can also pick up information in my room or in Mr. McCormick's. If you would like to register for the trip, please go to www.eftours.com, then type in the tour number 1668155KK. The total price is detailed for you on line. You can sign up for the trip with a $95 deposit. When you sign up on line, you can choose to pay the company monthly or pay in full, 90 days before departure.

The earlier you sign up the less the monthly payment! We have also included 2 extra activities in the price - a Greek cooking class and a Greek Evening with food and music.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You can reach me by phone at 746-1300, ex. 26227 or by email at [email protected].

Partners in Education - AMHS's Parent-Teacher-Student Organization

Welcome back parents and students!  It is going to be a terrific year!  Hopefully everyone is back in the swing of things as we finish our second week of the school year.

Don't miss the annual PIE Open House/Meet the Teacher night, Thursday, September 10th at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. This is an open PIE meeting where the budget is presented for a vote.  You will hear from all of the AMHS parent volunteer organizations and learn how you and your family might assist each group in reaching their goals for this school year.  It is also an opportunity to meet your student's teachers and to learn about academic expectations as well.

We will use the Raptor Report each week to highlight events and happenings at the school, as well as, present opportunities for you to help!

I am looking forward to a great school year.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at  [email protected].
